IFL Recap: Sioux Falls Storm vs Green Bay Blizzard

Lorenzo Brown completed 12-of-15 passes for 141 yards along with five touchdowns while Judd Harrold had five receptions for 60 yards with two touchdowns to lead the Sioux Falls Storm (9-3) over the Green Bay Blizzard (2-10), 60-21, on Friday, June 1st at the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

B.J. Hill was a workhorse for the Blizzard offensively. Hill ran the ball six times for six yards along with having five receptions for 80 yards and a touchdown. Hill was also a key member on special teams as he returned four kicks for 117 yards and a touchdown.

At halftime, the Storm leads the Blizzard 19-7 behind touchdowns from a rushing touchdown from Lorenzo Brown along with two passing touchdowns to Judd Harrold and Damien Ford.

The Sioux Falls Storm managed to convert on 6-of-8 third-down opportunities throughout the game, while the Green Bay Blizzard managed to convert on just 5-of-11 opportunities. The Storm also led the game in total offense as they accumulated a total of 233 yards with only 40 coming from rush yards and 193 yards coming through the air.

IFL Recap: Sioux Falls Storm vs. Cedar Rapids Titans

Marques Rodgers rushed the ball 20 times for 111 yards and two touchdowns while Lorenzo Brown completed 8-of-13 passes for 70 yards with a touchdown and interception to lead the Sioux Falls Storm (8-3) over the Cedar Rapids Titans (1-10), 56-45, on Friday, May 18th at the US Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Although the Titans lost, quarterback Jake Medlock completed 12-of-26 passes for 149 yards and Marquel Wade had four receptions for 53 yards and a touchdown for the Titans.

At halftime, the Titans lead 23-18 behind two touchdowns from Jake Medlock who connecting with Marquel Wade and Javon Bell.

The Storm found their groove offensively and gained 22 first downs while the Titans were held to only 13 first downs. Third-down efficiency affects both teams during the game as the Storm successfully converted on 4 of 10 opportunities and the Titans were only able to convert on 1 of 7 opportunities but were successful on their only fourth down conversion. Penalties continued to take a toll on both teams during the game as the Storm committed 11 penalties for 93 yards and the Titans committed seven penalties for 70 yards. Overall, both teams respectfully found their groove on offense, for the Storm is was the run game as they accumulated 170 rushing yards and for the Titans, it was the passing game as they had 141 passing yards during the game.

IFL Recap: Nebraska Danger vs. Sioux Falls Storm

Lorenzo Brown finished the game 15-of-21 for 156 yards with three touchdowns and an interception for and Mike Tatum had five receptions for 68 yards to lead the Sioux Falls Storm (7-3) over the Nebraska Danger (4-6), 40-36, at the Premier Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Even though the Nebraska Danger lost, Gregory Hankerson Jr. had himself a day as he completed 17-of-29 attempts for 106 yards with four touchdowns and an interception. Even though he failed to connect on some passes, Hankerson seemed to have remaining calm under center and was close to successfully delivering a comeback for the Danger. Hankerson was also dynamic during the running game as he ran the ball 10 times for 65 yards.

At halftime, the Storm was leading 26-14, behind three touchdowns from Lorenzo Brown.

The Sioux Falls Storm found their rhythm offensively with 23 first downs throughout the game while the defense held the Nebraska Danger to 15 first downs. Penalties hurt both teams equally as the Storm committed seven penalties for 67 yards and the Danger committed eight penalties for 68 yards. The Storm also mustered almost 100 more yards of total offense over the Danger as the Storm recorded 263 yards with 156 passing yards and 107 rushing yards while the Danger only recorded 183 yards with 106 passing yards and 77 rushing yards.

Game Recap: Iowa Barnstormers vs. Sioux Falls Storm

On Saturday May 5th, the Indoor Football league hosted three games and the first of those three was between the Iowa Barnstormers and the Sioux Falls Storm. The Barnstormers are currently 6-2 and sit in 2nd place while the Storm are 6-3 and sit in 3rd place. The game took place at the Premier Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
The Iowa Barnstormers took a commanding 14-0 lead in the 1st quarter with both scoring drives from Tyler Jamal, who ran the first touchdown for 3 yards and then ran the ball 11 yards for another touchdown about 4 minutes later.
End of 1st: Barnstormers 14 – Storm 7

Both teams combined for five touchdowns during the second quarter but the Barnstormers continued to find their stride offensively with another touchdown early in the second quarter. Drew Powell found his stride on the ground and ran the ball 3 yards into the end zone to give the Barnstormers a 21-0 lead. The Storm were able to find their momentum and disrupt the dominance seen by the Barnstormers early. Lorenzo Brown was able to run a yard into the end zone to cut the Barnstormers lead to 14. However, the Barnstormers were able to regain momentum rather quickly and were able to find the end zone yet again but this time it was a Drew Powell 44 yard pass to Brady Roland. Cody Barber went on to miss the extra point and would leave the Barnstormers with a 27-7 lead with 8:17 remaining before halftime. The Storm would be the team to score on the next three opportunities and ultimately bring the game within four by halftime. The Storm scored with a 1 yard run from both Lorenzo Brown and Lyle McComb. The Storm also got a safety which gave them two more points to an already dominant end of the second quarter.
Halftime: Barnstormers 27 – Storm 23

With 5:45 remaining in the 3rd quarter the Storm were the first team to find the end zone and with that touchdown were able to gain the lead over the Barnstormers. The Storm scored on a Dillon Turner 2 yard run but Miles Bergner would have his extra point attempt blocked by Dame Ndiaya. Drew Powell continued to find his dominance on the ground for the Barnstormers as he was able to scramble and run 27 yards for a touchdown but failed to convert on the 2 point try.
End of 3rd: Barnstormers 33 – Storm 29

The Storm opened up the final quarter with a scoring drive which last a little over 2 minutes. The Storm scored on a Lorenzo Brown 34 yard pass to Mike Tatum. The Barnstormers would find momentum briefly and score on the next two possessions. First, the Barnstormers scored on a 21 yard pass from Drew Powell to Ryan Balentine. The next drive came from a Drew Powell 8 yard pass to Sheldon Augustine. Cody Barber went on to have his extra point attempt blocked by Chris Martin. The next three scoring drives resulted with field goals for both teams. The Storm kicker Miles Bergner successfully made a 39 yard field goal and then made a 25 yard field goal. Cody Barber successfully made a field goal for the Barnstormers when he made a 17 yard attempt.

Game Recap: Cedar Rapids Titans vs. Sioux Falls Storm

On Saturday April 21st the Cedar Rapids Titans played against the Sioux Falls Storm. The game took place at the Premier Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Following the game the Cedar Rapids Titans have a record of 1-6 while the Sioux Falls Storm have a record of 5-2.

The Sioux Falls Storm found themselves scoring twice during the first 10 minutes of the game to take a commanding 14-0 lead. The first touchdown came from Lorenzo Brown who ran the ball 36 yards into the end zone. The second touchdown came from another Lorenzo Brown rush but this time it was a 4 yard run. The Cedar Rapids Titans were able to trim the lead down to 7 following a Ralph Lawson-Gayle 4 yard run into the end zone. However, the Storm were able to increase the lead back up to 14 with 2 yard run from Lyle McCombs.
End of the 1st quarter: Titans 7 – Storm 21

The second quarter was dominated by the Storm offense as they scored on four separate occasions before halftime. The first of many touchdowns this quarter came from a 1 yard run from Lorenzo Brown. But the Titans capitalized on their next drive as they tried to stop the Storm momentum. The Titans score on a Jake Medlock 4 yard pass to Javon Bell. But like I mentioned the Storm offense found the end zone a lot this quarter. Following the Titans touchdown the Storm went on to score three more times. The second touchdown of the quarter for the Storm came from a 30 yard pass from Lorenzo Brown who connected with Karim Jones. With less then 5 minutes remaining in the quarter the Storm went on to scored 10 points behind a 30 yard touchdown pass from Lorenzo Brown to Harold Judd and then a 24 yard field goal from Miles Bergner.
Halftime: Titans 13 – Storm 45

The Titans got on the board first in the third quarter with a Jake Medlock 25 yard pass to Ralph Lawson-Gayle. The Storm continued with the momentum and found the end zone on the following possession with a Lorenzo Brown 33 yard pass to Harold Judd. The 3rd quarter saw a lot of back to back scoring action between the two teams as both teams would go on to score one more time a piece to end the quarter. The Titans found the end zone again but this time it was a 12 yard pass from Jake Medlock to Connor Hollenbeck. The Storm capped of the 3rd quarter with a 36 yard field goal from Miles Bergner.
End of the 3rd: Titans 27 – Storm 55

The Titans found their groove in the 4th quarter but were to far behind to complete the comeback. The Titans found the end zone first in the 4th quarter with a Ralph Lawson-Gayle 11 yard run. However, the Storm scored on a 36 yard field goal by Miles Bergner but that didn’t stop the Titans momentum. Jake Medlock used his legs to find the end zone for the Titans as he scored on a 1 yard run. The Titans were down 17 with about five minutes remaining in the game. However, the Storm sealed the game with a Mike Tatum 6 yard run. The Titans ended the game with a Jake Medlock 2 yard pass to Connor Hollenbeck.

Nebraska Danger vs. Sioux Falls Storm

The match-up between the Sioux Falls Storm and the Nebraska Danger took place on Saturday April 7th. The game took place in Grand Island, Nebraska at the Heartland Events Center. Currently the Storm are 4-1 and are tied with the Arizona Rattlers for 1st place. The Danger are currently 4-2 and sit alone in 3rd place overall in the league.
The Storm were the first team to land on the board with 14:26 remaining in the 1st quarter. The Storm would score on a Lorenzo Brown 18 yard pass to Judd Harrold. However, just over 5 minutes later the Danger would tie up the game early with a Jesse Scroggins 11 yard pass to Eric Thomas. Sioux Falls would regain the lead with 4:57 remaining in the quarter from a Lorenzo Brown 30 yard pass to Mike Tatum. That drive took 2:23 seconds off the clock on 5 plays for 41 yards.
End of the 1st: Storm 14 – Danger 7

The Storm would lose the momentum but would regain it with 6:50 remaining before halftime. Lyle McCombs was able to run 5 yards and find his way into the end zone following a 4 play 14 yard drive with 6:50 remaining in the half. But the Danger quickly found their momentum as they cut the lead back down to 8 as Jesse Scroggins found Kenzel Doe on a 13 yard touchdown but Brad Hatfield would miss the extra point attempt with 3:43 remaining. Heading into the final minutes of the game Lorenzo Brown would throw the ball 10 yards to Judd Harrold for a touchdown with 18 seconds remaining before halftime.
Halftime: Storm 28 – Danger 13

Each team went on to score within the last 5 minutes of the 3rd quarter. The Danger would be the first team as Brad Hatfield made a 33 yard field goal with 4:54 remaining in the quarter. The Storm would capitalize on their 4 play, 5 yard drive that took 2:21 off the clock with a Miles Berger 39 yard field goal.
End of the 3rd: Storm 31 – Danger 16

The Danger would try to complete the comeback early as they scored with 14:09 remaining in the game from a Jesse Scroggins 9 yard touchdown pass to Angelo Pease to bring the Storm lead to 8. However the Danger defense couldn’t stop the Storm as they were able to score on a Lorenzo Brown 20 yard touchdown pass to Mike Tatum with 9:38 remaining in the game. Currently the score was Storm 38 and Danger 23. The Danger had time to complete a comeback and brought it back within 8 as the Danger scored on Jesse Scroggins 5 yard touchdown pass to Eric Thomas with 8:41 remaining. Carrying the momentum into their next possession the Danger had a chance to cut down the lead but threw an interception which was caught by Jabari Gorman who ran it back 15 yards for a pick 6. The final attempt of the game for the Danger would be with 2:30 remaining as Jesse Scroggins threw a 25 yard pass to Gregory Dent for a touchdown.

Green Bay Blizzard vs. Sioux Falls Storm Game Recap

The IFL game between the Green Bay Blizzard and the Sioux Falls Storm took place on Saturday March 24th. Saturdays game took place in Green Bay, Wisconsin at the Resch Center. Currently the Blizzard are 0-5 overall and are in last place within the league and the Storm are 3-1 overall and are in a four way tie for 1st place.
Both teams would fail to find the end zone in the 1st quarter but the Storm would end up on the board with no time remaining from a 29 yard field goal from Miles Bergner.
END OF 1ST: Storm 3 – Blizzard 0

The Blizzard would open the 2nd quarter with a 5 play, 27 yard drive resulting in a Raymond Cotton 11 yard run with 11:02 remaining before halftime. With less than 10 minutes remaining before halftime the Storm would finish off a 6 play, 28 yard drive with a Lorenzo Brown 1 yard run but the extra point attempt would be blocked by Chris Martin. A minute remaining before halftime wouldn’t stop the Blizzard from taking away the Storm lead as they capped their possession off with a 23 yard field goal from Jeff Budzien. However, the Storm would find the end zone with :17 seconds remaining with a Lorenzo Brown 9 yard run as they regained the lead heading into halftime.
Halftime: Storm 16 – Blizzard 10

Both teams would find the end zone in the 3rd quarter. However, the Storm would be the first team on the board during the 2nd half as Miles Bergner successfully made an 18 yard field goal. With less than 5 minutes remaining it was time for the Blizzard to march into the end zone and they did just that with a Serge Trezy 1 yard run to finish the quarter.
END OF 3RD: Storm 19 – Blizzard 17

The Storm would go on to dominate the 4th quarter as they found the end zone on 3 possessions while the Blizzard would only be successful on 1 drive. The Storm opened the 4th quarter with a 6 play, 43 yard drive which took 5:03 off the clock and resulted in a Mike Tatum 7 yard run with 13:01 remaining in the game. With less than 10 minutes remaining Tatum would find the end zone against for the Storm but this time it was through the air as Lorenzo Brown threw it to Tatum for 22 yards. Their final scoring drive was a Lorenzo Brown 26 yard pass to Judd Harold. The Blizzard would finish the game with :39 seconds remaining as they found the end zone following a 2 play, 7 yard drive that resulted in a Christian Lemay 1 yard run.

Iowa Barnstormers vs. Sioux Falls Storm Recap

Image result for sioux falls storm footballSaturdays indoor football league match-up consisted of the Sioux Falls Storm against the Iowa Barnstormers. The game took place in Des Moines, Iowa at the Wells Fargo Arena home of the Barnstormers. The Barnstormers and the Storm following that game are both 2-1 and are tied for 3rd place in the league behind the Arizona Rattlers and the Nebraska Danger.
Not a lot happened in the first quarter for either team besides when the Barnstormers scored a touchdown with 5:15 remaining in the quarter. The Barnstormers capitalized on a 5 play, 45-yard drive taking just over 4 minutes of the clock with a 4-yard rush from Drew Powell.

End of 1st: Storm 0 – Barnstormers 7

The second quarter had a whole different outcome as both teams combined for 5 scoring drives. Starting off the drive the capitalized on their 10 play, 44-yard drive with a Lorenzo Brown 7 yard pass to Brandynn Clark to tie the game with 14:30 remaining before halftime. The Storm would go to take the lead with 5:04 remaining in the quarter from a Lorenzo Brown 5 yard pass to Mike Tatum. In the final minute before halftime there was a combined three scoring drives, 2 by the Barnstormers and 1 by the Storm. The Barnstormers would cut the lead down to 4 with a Cody Barber 33 yard field goal with :48 seconds left before halftime. In just 24 seconds the Storm would respond with a Lorenzo Brown 11 yard run but the Barnstormers would be the last team to score prior to halftime with a 34 yard pass from Drew Powell to Brady Roland.

The Storm opened up the scoring in the 3rd quarter with a Miles Bergner 23 yard field goal bring their lead up to a touchdown over the Barnstormers. The Barnstormers would respond however in just over 5 minutes from a 10 play, 46 yard drive and capping it off with a Drew Powell 2 yard run to tie the game late in the quarter. Both teams would go on to score one more time in the 3rd quarter. The Storm would finish off a 5-play, 44 yard drive with a Marque Rodgers 16 yard bringing their lead back up to 7. However the Barnstormers would be the final team to score in the 3rd with a 3 yard run from Donovan Williams.

END OF 3RD: Storm 34 – Barnstormers 34
The 4th and final quarter of the game consisted of 5 scoring drives between the two teams. The Storm would take a 3-play, 36 yard drive and finish it off with a Mike Tatum 2 yard rush with 14:45 remaining in the game. The Barnstormers would respond with less than 10 minutes remaining in the game with a 20 yard field goal from Cody Barber. The Storm tried to seal the game with just under 5 minutes left with a Lorenzo Brown 7 yard pass to Harold Judd. The Barnstormers tried to keep the game close by scoring with a minute left in the game from a Drew Powell 7 yard run as they cut the lead down to 5. The Barnstormers defense couldn’t stop the Storm on the final drive as the Storm scored with 38 seconds remaining to seal the game with a Lorenzo Brown 14 yard pass to Brandynn Clark.

Cedar Rapids Titans vs. Sioux Fall Storm Game Recap

The Indoor Football league kicked off Sunday with a game between the Cedar Rapids Titans and Sioux Falls Storm. The game took place Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the Premier Center. Following the Sunday nights matchup the Titans have a 1-2 record and sat in 5th place in league standings. The Storm have a 1-1 record following Sundays game and are currently in 4th place overall in the league.

The Storm would be the first team to score off of an 8 play, 45-yard drive lasting 3:56 and capping it off with a Lorenzo Brown 14-yard run. The Titans would respond on their next possession from a 6 play, 34 yard drive and the Titans capped it off with a 16-yard pass from Jake Medlock to Marquel Wade but Micha Georgetti would have his PAT blocked by the Storm. The Storm would finish off the first quarter with 6 play 30 yard drive resulting in a Lorenzo Brown 7 yard pass to Harrold Judd.

The Titans would be the first team on the board in the 2nd quarter. The Titans capped off an 8 play, 36 yard drive with a 5 yard touchdown pass form Jake Medlock to Marquel Wade. The Storm would go on to score on three separate drives to finish out the quarter. The Storm scored Lyle McCombs 11 yard run, 17 yard run and 1 yard rush prior to halftime.

Halftime: Titans 13 – Storm 33

The Storm opened up the first quarter with a Lorenzo Brown 15 yard touchdown pass to Harrold Judd. The Titans would respond with a 20 yard touchdown pass from Jake Medlock to Marquel Wade. The Storm would score three more times each to finish out the 3rd quarter. The Storm would score on a Turner Dillion 5 yard pass to Harrold Judd, a 49 yard kickoff return from Daniel Lindsey, and finishing off the quarter with a safety. The Titans scored only one final time in the third quarter with a Jake Medlock 19 yard pass to Connor Hollenbeck.

End of 3rd: Titans 27 – Storm 56

Sioux Falls would open up the 4th quarter with a Lorenzo Brown 19 yard touchdown pass to Harrold Judd. Cedar Rapids would respond with a Jake Medlock 1 yard touchdown run but it wouldn’t be enough to start a comeback as the Storm scored one final time with a Dillion Turner 12 yard touchdown pass to Harrold Judd.
