IFL Recap: Sioux Falls Storm vs Green Bay Blizzard

Lorenzo Brown completed 12-of-15 passes for 141 yards along with five touchdowns while Judd Harrold had five receptions for 60 yards with two touchdowns to lead the Sioux Falls Storm (9-3) over the Green Bay Blizzard (2-10), 60-21, on Friday, June 1st at the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

B.J. Hill was a workhorse for the Blizzard offensively. Hill ran the ball six times for six yards along with having five receptions for 80 yards and a touchdown. Hill was also a key member on special teams as he returned four kicks for 117 yards and a touchdown.

At halftime, the Storm leads the Blizzard 19-7 behind touchdowns from a rushing touchdown from Lorenzo Brown along with two passing touchdowns to Judd Harrold and Damien Ford.

The Sioux Falls Storm managed to convert on 6-of-8 third-down opportunities throughout the game, while the Green Bay Blizzard managed to convert on just 5-of-11 opportunities. The Storm also led the game in total offense as they accumulated a total of 233 yards with only 40 coming from rush yards and 193 yards coming through the air.

IFL Recap: Iowa Barnstormers vs. Green Bay Blizzard

Drew Powell finished the game completing 14-of-24 passes for 154 yards along with three touchdowns and an interceptions while Ryan Balentine had six receptions for 71 yards to lead the Iowa Barnstormers (9-2) over the Green Bay Blizzard (2-9), 14-49, on Friday, May 25th at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa.

Although the Green Bay Blizzard lost against the Barnstormers, quarterback Bryan Hicks completed 12-of-22 passes for 137 yards along with two touchdowns and two interceptions. B.J. Hill finished the game with three receptions for 46 yards while Chris Malott finished the game with four receptions for 31 yards and a touchdown and Tim Lukas finished with one reception for 16 yards and a touchdown for the Blizzard.

At halftime, the Barnstormers led the Blizzard, 15-0 as Drew Powell was responsible for a 13-yard passing touchdown and an 11-yard rushing touchdown.

The Barnstormers were dominant offensively gaining 22 first downs while the defense held the Blizzard offense to only gaining eight first downs. The Barnstormers also converted on nine of their 11 opportunities during third-down situations while the Blizzard only converted on three of eight opportunities. Total offense was another big difference maker between the two teams, as the Barnstormers record 291 yards of total offense while the Blizzard managed just 141 yards of offense.

IFL Recap: Green Bay Blizzard vs Nebraska Danger

Bryan Hicks completed 10-of-23 passes for 168 yards and three touchdowns and B.J. Hill ran the ball 20 times for 76 yards and one touchdown to lead the Green Bay Blizzard (2-8) over the Nebraska Danger (4-7), 31-20, on Friday, May 18th at the Heartland Events Center in Grand Island, Nebraska.

Gregory Hickerson had trouble connecting with receivers as he managed to complete just eight of his 31 pass attempts during the game for 49 yards. The only offense the Danger was able to produce came from the run game as Gregory Hickerson ran the ball 11 times for 99 yards but running back Angelo Pease led the way with two touchdowns.

At halftime, the Danger led 20-14 behind two touchdowns from running back Angelo Pease.

The Green Bay Blizzard managed to gain 11 first downs while the Nebraska Danger only managed to gain nine. Penalties affected the Danger’s rhythm as they had seven penalties accumulating 32 yards. Both teams really struggled during third-down situations as the Blizzard converted on only 5 of 13 opportunities while the Danger managed to convert on just 4 of 13 opportunities throughout the game.

IFL Recap: Arizona Rattlers vs. Green Bay Blizzard

Dezmon Epps finished the game with three receptions for 68 yards and two touchdowns while his quarterback Jeff Ziemba completed 11-of-13 pass attempts for 111 yards and five touchdowns to lead the Arizona Rattlers (9-1) over the Green Bay Blizzard (1-6), 62-26, at the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin on Friday, May 12th.

Bryan Hicks had trouble connecting with his receivers during the game as he only completed 4-of-11 attempts for 36 yards and two interceptions. The only Brightside from the Blizzards performance was B.J. Hill rushing the ball 17 times for 91 yards and a touchdown.

At halftime, the Rattlers were leading 35-13 behind Jeff Ziemba, who had three passing touchdowns and one rushing touchdown.

Although the Rattlers came away victorious, the team accumulated 12 penalties for 98 yards while the Blizzard only recorded five penalties for 48 yards. From a third-down efficiency standpoint, the Rattlers were a dominant force who was a success on 5-of-7 attempts (71%) while the defense held the Blizzard to succeed on only 2-of-9 attempts (22%). Both teams had 18 first downs apiece while the Rattlers had 241 yards of total offense while the Blizzard only had 156 yards of total offense.

IFL Recap: Green Bay Blizzard vs. Nebraska Danger

Bryan Hicks finished the game completing 16 of his 19 attempts for 206 yards and 6 touchdowns and B.J. Hill rushed the ball 12 times for 86 yards as the Green Bay Blizzard (1-5) defeated the Nebraska Danger (4-4), 47-25, on May 5th at the Resch Center in Green Bay Wisconsin.

The Green Bay Blizzard had a lot of help offensively as Kezlow Smith helped on the receiving end as he hauled in 5 receptions for 98 yards and three touchdowns.

For the Nebraska Danger, Jesse Scroggins and Eric Thomas lead the way offensively. Scroggins completed 15 of his 25 attempts for 173 yards and three touchdowns. Thomas hauled in six receptions for 82 yards and two touchdowns.

The Green Bay Blizzard had 24 first downs in the victory while the Nebraska Danger only managed 15. However, penalties killed the Blizzard as they had eight penalties for 68 yards and the Danger also had eight penalties for 43 yards. The third down efficiency was also a key piece to the Blizzards success as they converted on 80% of attempts (4-5) and holding the Danger to a 40% conversion rate (4-10).

Game Recap: Green Bay Blizzard vs. Arizona Rattlers

On Saturday April 21st the Green Bay Blizzard played against the Arizona Rattlers. The game took place at the Talking Stick Resort in Phoenix, Arizona. Currently the Green Bay Blizzard have a 0-6 record while the Arizona Rattlers have a record of 6-1.

Arizona had a very dominate first quarter both offensively and defensively as they held the Blizzard to just one touchdown. The Rattlers got on the board first with Jeff Ziemba 14 yard pass to Jamal Miles although Petre Sawyer missed the extra point attempt. The Blizzard scored on their next possession with a Bryan Hicks 23 yard pass to Jerome Jones but Jordan Endries missed the extra point attempt. The Rattlers went on to score two more times in the first quarter with the second touchdown coming from Dylan Pebbles 1 yard run and followed by Jeff Ziemba 7 yard pass to Anthony Amos.
End of 1st Quarter: Blizzard 6 – Rattlers 20

The second quarter saw three scoring drives in which the Rattlers had scored on two drives before halftime. However, the Blizzard were on the board first to start the second quarter with a BJ Hill 50 yard kickoff return. The Rattlers went on to score 10 points to end the quarter as Petre Sawyer made a 36 yard field goal and then almost 9 minutes later Jeff Ziemba reconnected with Jamal Miles on a 4 yard pass.
Halftime: Blizzard 13 – Rattlers 30

The third quarter was a big quarter for the Rattlers offensively as they scored on three possessions. The Blizzard were the first to score during the 3rd quarter as Serge Trezy scored on a 10 yard run. The Rattlers found their groove early in the 3rd quarter as Darrell Monroe ran 37 yard into the end zone. The Rattlers had a very successful ground game as Dylan Pebbles scored on a 2 yard run following the Monroe touchdown. BJ Hill was dominate as a return man as he successfully return a 58 yard kickoff for a touchdown. But Darrell Monroe went on to find the end zone one final time in the quarter with a 1 yard run which likely sealed the game.
End of the 3rd: Blizzard 27 – Rattlers 52

The Arizona Rattler scored twice during the 4th quarter and held the Blizzard to one successful scoring drive. The Rattlers scored first in the 4th quarter with a Jarrod Harrington 1 yard run which was followed by a Blizzard touchdown by Bryan Hicks who ran it 2 yards into the end zone. Arizona scored one final time with 7 seconds remaining as Dylan Pebbles ran 11 yards into the end zone to end the game.

IFL Game Recap: Green Bay Blizzard vs. Iowa Barnstormers

On Saturday April 28th the Green Bay Blizzard played against the Iowa Barnstormers. The game took place at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa. Currently the Green Bay Blizzard have a 0-7 record and sit in last place in the league while the Iowa Barnstormers have a record of 5-2 and currently sit in 3rd place overall in the league.
Both teams found there way into the end zone during the first quarter with the Blizzard getting on the board first with a Bryan Hicks 44 yard pass to Chris Malott. The Barnstormers responded on the next possession with a Grant Rohach 11 yard pass to Ryan Ballentine.
End of the 1st Quarter: Blizzard 7 – Barnstormers 7

The Barnstormers were able to find the end zone both offensively and defensively as Grant Rohach connected with Sheldon Augustine on a 6 yard pass and then Bryce Enyard returned an interception 32 yard for a pick six. The Blizzard were the last team to score before halftime as Darrius Sims returned an interception 15 yard for a pick six and successfully converted the 2pt attempt.

The Barnstormers are the first team on the board to open up the second half as Sheldon Augustine found the end zone on a 2 yard run. The Blizzard responded quickly on the next possession as Jeremy Jones scored on a 2 yard run as well. Barnstormers closed the 3rd quarter as they scored on a Grant Rohach 19 yard pass to Brady Roland.
End of the 3rd Quarter: Blizzard 22 – Barnstormers 33

The Barnstormers score early in the 4th quarter as Grant Rohach connected with Ryan Ballentine on a 3 yard pass. Nearly 10 minutes later the Barnstormers found the end zone again as Grant Rohach found the end zone on a 3 yard run. The Blizzard scored one final time in the game as Jordan Endries successfully made a 51 yard field goal.

Green Bay Blizzard vs. Sioux Falls Storm Game Recap

The IFL game between the Green Bay Blizzard and the Sioux Falls Storm took place on Saturday March 24th. Saturdays game took place in Green Bay, Wisconsin at the Resch Center. Currently the Blizzard are 0-5 overall and are in last place within the league and the Storm are 3-1 overall and are in a four way tie for 1st place.
Both teams would fail to find the end zone in the 1st quarter but the Storm would end up on the board with no time remaining from a 29 yard field goal from Miles Bergner.
END OF 1ST: Storm 3 – Blizzard 0

The Blizzard would open the 2nd quarter with a 5 play, 27 yard drive resulting in a Raymond Cotton 11 yard run with 11:02 remaining before halftime. With less than 10 minutes remaining before halftime the Storm would finish off a 6 play, 28 yard drive with a Lorenzo Brown 1 yard run but the extra point attempt would be blocked by Chris Martin. A minute remaining before halftime wouldn’t stop the Blizzard from taking away the Storm lead as they capped their possession off with a 23 yard field goal from Jeff Budzien. However, the Storm would find the end zone with :17 seconds remaining with a Lorenzo Brown 9 yard run as they regained the lead heading into halftime.
Halftime: Storm 16 – Blizzard 10

Both teams would find the end zone in the 3rd quarter. However, the Storm would be the first team on the board during the 2nd half as Miles Bergner successfully made an 18 yard field goal. With less than 5 minutes remaining it was time for the Blizzard to march into the end zone and they did just that with a Serge Trezy 1 yard run to finish the quarter.
END OF 3RD: Storm 19 – Blizzard 17

The Storm would go on to dominate the 4th quarter as they found the end zone on 3 possessions while the Blizzard would only be successful on 1 drive. The Storm opened the 4th quarter with a 6 play, 43 yard drive which took 5:03 off the clock and resulted in a Mike Tatum 7 yard run with 13:01 remaining in the game. With less than 10 minutes remaining Tatum would find the end zone against for the Storm but this time it was through the air as Lorenzo Brown threw it to Tatum for 22 yards. Their final scoring drive was a Lorenzo Brown 26 yard pass to Judd Harold. The Blizzard would finish the game with :39 seconds remaining as they found the end zone following a 2 play, 7 yard drive that resulted in a Christian Lemay 1 yard run.

Green Bay Blizzard vs. Arizona Rattlers Game Recap

Currently the Blizzard hold a 0-4 record and sit alone in 6th place while the Rattlers are currently 2-1 and are in 2nd place.
The first quarter saw one scoring drive and it was late in the first quarter. The Rattlers were able to finish a 5 play, 24 yard drive with a 1 yard touchdown run from Ziemba with 8:24 remaining in the 1st quarter.


End of 1st: Blizzard 0 – Rattlers 7
However, the second quarter saw a lot of scoring action between the two teams prior to halftime. The Rattlers kicked off the quarter with a Shadrach Thornton 6 yard rush. Though the extra point attempt by Sawyer Petre was blocked by Brandon Boudreaux the Rattlers still held a 0-13 lead with 14:50 remaining before halftime. The Blizzard responded on their next drive as they took 6 minutes off the clock from a 10 play, 34 yard drive and finished it off with a Oden Jasen 2 yard run to cut the lead to 6. With their next drive though the Rattlers would increase their lead back to 13 with a Shadrach Thornton 12 yard run with 4:11 remaining before halftime. During the 3rd quarter each team would go on to complete one scoring drive. The Rattlers were the first team to find the end zone with 3:22 remaining before the 4th quarter from 17 yard pass from Jeff Ziemba to Anthony Amos. The Blizzard would go on to find the end zone less than a minute later from a Christian Lemay 24 yard pass to Chris Malott.


End of 3rd: Blizzard 17 – Rattlers 27
The Blizzards defense would be the first team to score in the 4th quarter as Sean Daniels recovered a fumble and returned it 2 yards for a touchdown. Arizona would respond less than a minute later with a Shadrach Thornton 6 yard rush. Each team would go on to finish this game with one more scoring drive a piece and the first one came from the Blizzard with 10:22 remaining in the game. The Blizzard scored from a Christian Lemay 11 yard pass to Chris Malott. The Blizzard were currently down only 3 after their touchdown drive and as their defense tried to stop the Rattlers from marching down field and scoring. They did not keep them from scoring but they managed to only allow a 22 yard field goal from Sawyer Petre with 5:29 remaining. The Blizzard would have possession of the ball with 2 minutes remaining and down by 6, but the Rattlers defense was able to step up big time and on 3rd and 7 from the Green Bay 23 Allen Chapman was able to pick off the Christian Lemay’s throw and seal the game for the Rattlers.

Nebraska Danger vs. Green Bay Blizzard Game Recap

The Nebraska Danger took on the Green Bay Blizzard on Sunday, March 11th. The game took place in Grand Island, Nebraska at the Heartland Events Center. Currently the Blizzard are 0-3 and are last in league standing while the Danger are 1-0 and sit in 2nd place in the league.

 

The Nebraska Danger took control during the first quarter as they established a 21-0 lead. The touchdowns came from a Damien Fleming 20-yard pass to Gregory Dent (14:32), a Damien Fleming 21-yard run (10:56), and a Damien Fleming 8-yard pass to Gregory Dent (3:38). The Blizzard would cut the Danger’s lead down to 14 on a B.J. Hill 40-yard kickoff return with 2:55 remaining in the first quarter. The Danger finished off the first quarter with a 37-yard touchdown pass from Damien Fleming to Eric Thomas.

End of 1st: 7-28

The Nebraska Danger were able to keep the momentum from the first quarter with a Xzavie Jackson 20-yard fumble recovery with 13:33 remaining before halftime. The Green Bay Blizzard took control of their next possession with a Christian Lemay 44-yard pass to Chris Malott with 10:43 remaining before halftime. The Danger would go on to score on their next three possessions from a Damien Fleming 7-yard run, an Angelo Pease 3-yard run, and a Brad Hatfield 16-yard field goal to close out the quarter.

The Blizzard opened up the second half taking 5 minutes off the clock on an 8 play, 27 yard drive resulting in a Jordan Endries 27-yard field goal. The Danger responded with 2:26 remaining in the 3rd quarter with a 2 play, 24 yard drive resulting in a Damien Fleming 27-yard touchdown pass to Eric Thomas.

End of 3rd: 17-59

The fourth quarter saw one scoring drive with 2:07 remaining in the game the Blizzard ran 1 play for ten yards resulting in a rushing touchdown for Raymond Cotton.
