For my eighth installment, I decided to go with the mighty South Eastern Conference (SEC). You cannot talk SEC football without talking about Alabama. There is no doubt that Alabama is the standard when it comes to establishing and maintaining a college football dynasty. Alabama has the best coach possibly of all time in Nick Saban who does an excellent job controlling the narrative when it comes to Alabama football. Nick Saban has done a great job maintaining the noise around his quarterback situation. There is no doubt in my mind that barring injury that Tua Tagovailoa will start over Jalen Hurts this season. There is no denying that Jalen Hurts is an excellent athlete but not a great quarterback. He can make plays happen with his legs but cannot throw from the packet. Alabama will continue to do what makes them successful, run the ball and play outstanding defense. Damien Harris will return after rushing for 1000 yards with a 7.4 average yards per carry average. I also expect to see more playing time for Najee Harris in the backfield as well. When you look at Alabama’s schedule, I see only two games that might give them problems and that is September 15that Ole Miss and November 3rdat LSU. Alabama will get Miss State and Auburn at home this year. I think both those games will be close but Alabama wins. I see Alabama going 12-0 and of course winning the SEC West.

The other team from the SEC I have to pay attention to is the Georgia Bulldogs. The Georgia Bulldogs were impressive all season rolling into the College Football Playoffs and eventually the National Championship game. Georgia will have to regroup after a heartbreaking lose in overtime to Alabama in the National Championship game. There is no doubt they won the battle on the recruiting trail and will open the season again loaded with talent. Georgia will return quarterback Jake Fromm who last year threw for 2615 yards with 24 touchdowns. Now Fromm did fracture his non-throwing hand during a lake accident in July. Even after losing Nick Chubb and Sony Michel to the NFL draft, they still have D’Andre Swift who has star potential written all over him. When you look at Georgia’s schedule they do have some tough games you can point too and see them losing, everyone is interested in the September 8thshowdown at South Carolina. I am not as concerned about that game because I am not as high on South Carolina as many other people are. October 13ththey will visit LSU, which is a team many people are guessing what they will look like; I can see a close game with Georgia winning in the 4thquarter. The November 10thmatch-up with Auburn will be another good game but I still see Georgia winning. I believe the Bulldogs will go 12-0 and winning the SEC East. How great would it be to have Alabama and Georgia unbeaten playing each other for the SEC championship? To me that would be great for college football.

Let me know what you think and I will see you next week.
