Tomahawks and Touchdowns: Second Half Mock Draft

The Chiefs will have five picks on the last day of the 2018 NFL Draft. Day three includes rounds four through seven. It will be important for the Chiefs to make good picks in the final rounds. Late round draft picks are not expected to start immediately but could be projects or potential sleepers for the team.

The Chiefs final pick in the fourth round will be 124th overall. They could target another cornerback in this spot. Quenton Meeks from Stanford could be a potential pick for the Chiefs. Meeks is a big corner that could be reliable for the Chiefs early in his career. Meeks is technically sound and should be a reliable pick. Cornerback is a big need for the Chiefs and it could be an area they address again in the fourth round.

The next pick for the Chiefs will be 209th overall in the sixth round. They do not have a fifth round pick. They could target an interior lineman at this spot. Colby Gossett from Appalachian State could be a player the Chiefs choose. Gossett started every game for Appalachian State the final three years of his college career. The Chiefs offensive line has struggled with injuries the last few seasons and adding Gossett could give them more depth and reliability.

The Chiefs first seventh round pick will be 233rd overall. They could target a safety at this spot. Joshua Kalu from Nebraska could be a player they target. Kalu had a long career at Nebraska where he started 37 games in four seasons. Kalu needs time to develop but he could be a long-term project at safety for the Chiefs.

The final pick for the Chiefs in the 2018 NFL Draft will be 243rd overall in the seventh round. The Chiefs need quarterback depth on the roster and they could fill it with this pick. J.T. Barrett from Ohio State could be a player the Chiefs select. Barrett was a big part of Ohio State’s National Championship run in 2014. He was the starter for the majority of the season but was injured against Michigan and missed the final three games of the season. Barrett is not expected to be a starter in the NFL but he could add talent to the Chiefs quarterback group.
