Gold Rush: The Gauntlet Is Here

The Nuggets Are In For A Tough Stretch.

The Denver Nuggets have just come off an interesting 2 game set, losing to the Rockets 130-104 on Friday, and winning against the Suns 123-113. Stats for both games can be found here and here. Denver now sits at 30-26 and is in 7th place in the West, but these next four games will be one of the toughest tests for the Nuggets so far, and could shape the rest of their season. Let’s take a look at what’s in store for us:

2/13

The Nuggets lost a close one to San Antonio at the end of January, 106-104.  If they can play hard like that again on Tuesday, then they have a decent  shot at stealing this one. It also helps that while the last game was in San Antonio, this time they will play in Denver. Tip-off is at 8:30 mountain time.

2/15

The Bucks are the 4th seed in the East, but are only one and a half games better than the Nuggets right now. The game is in Milwaukee and Denver has struggled on the road, only winning eight road games this year. Tip-off is at 6:30.

2/23

The Nuggets will take a week of after playing the Bucks before hosting the Spurs again. The rest should do them some good. Tip-off is at 7:00.

The Nuggets have not beat the Rockets this year, losing 125-95 in November, and 130-104 last Friday. This will be their first meeting in Denver this year which is a positive. The Nuggets did not shoot well in their last meeting with the Rockets, and that will be key for them if they are to have a chance in this game. Tip-off is at 7:00.

What This Means:

For the Nuggets, this 4-game stretch will one of the hardest they’ve faced all season. In my opinion, if they can win two of these games, they will at least hold on to that important 8th seed. But I also believe that these Nuggets have it in them to win all four. All they can do is take it one game at a time.
