Top Ten Thursday; NHL Hockey

Teams continue to hit their stride and some continue to struggle as we hit Week 13 of the NHL season. Some of their struggles are turning into real slides while other teams are making recent strides as our top ten has none of the 10 teams in the same ranking as last week.

10. St. Louis Blues (26-17-3) Previous Rank: 5
Last Game: Lost to the Florida Panthers 7-4
Next Game: Tuesday against the Toronto Maple Leafs
Carter Hutton has started 4 of the past 5 games for the Blues and has allowed 1.81 goals through those starts with a .941 save percentage.

 

9. Los Angeles Kings (24-13-5) Previous Rank: 8
Last Game: Lost to the Nashville Predators 4-3
Next Game: Saturday against the Anaheim Ducks
The Kings should be happy since Drew Doughty hasn’t missed any time due to the elbowing he received against Patrick Maroon.

 

8. Dallas Stars (24-16-3) Previous Rank: N/A
Last Game: Defeated the Edmonton Oilers 5-1
Next Game: Saturday against the Colorado Avalanche
Ben Bishop has finally established himself has the top goalie in Dallas which is why the Stars’ have found success recently.

 

7. New York Rangers (22-15-5) Previous Rank: N/A
Last Game: Lost to the Vegas Golden Knights 2-1
Next Game: Saturday against the New York Islanders
Henrik Lundqvist continues to dominate in net for the Rangers and is now 8th in all time wins with 424.

 

6. Toronto Maple Leafs (25-16-3) Previous Rank: 7
Last Game: Lost to the Columbus Blue Jackets 3-2 in OT
Next Game: Tonight against the Ottawa Senators
Toronto has a young squad with a good mix of veterans if they can steer down the correct path going forward the future looks bright for this team.

 

5. Winnipeg Jets (26-11-7) Previous Rank: 3
Last Game: Defeated the Buffalo Sabres 7-4
Next Game: Friday against the Chicago Blackhawks
Hellebuyck is the real deal in 35 games this season he won 23 of them with a .923 save percentage.

 

4. Boston Bruins (23-10-7) Previous Rank: N/A
Last Game: Lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins 6-5 in OT
Next Game: Saturday against the Montreal Canadiens
Boston continues to find success this season earning points in 11 straight games and haven’t lost in regulation since December.

 

3. Washington Capitals (27-13-3) Previous Rank: 10
Last Game: Defeated the Vancouver Canucks 3-1
Next Game: Thursday against the Carolina Hurricanes
The Capitals are dominating in the Metropolitan and while they continue to find success the teams behind them continue to trend downwards.

 

2. Tampa Bay Lightning (31-9-3) Previous Rank: 1
Last Game: Defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 5-4 in OT
Next Game: Thursday against the Calgary Flames
Tampa went on a rough patch during a three game road trip only earning 3 points when they could have earned more.

 

1. Las Vegas Golden Knights (29-10-2) Previous Rank: 2
Last Game: Defeated the New York Rangers 2-1
Next Game: Saturday against the Edmonton Oilers
Subban was an amazing pick up for the Golden Knights this season. He has won his last seven starts this season with the Knights.
