Top 10 Thursday; NFL Football

Week 13 has come to an end and many teams continue to make a push late for a play-off spot while others are attempting to secure one. There was some movement in this weeks countdown so let’s get it started.

10. Atlanta Falcons (7-5) Previous Rank: 7
​Last game: Lost to the Minnesota Vikings 14-9
​Next game: Thursday against the New Orleans Saints
Vic Beasley needed help on the defense last season after accounting for 46% of the Falcons sacks. The Falcons got him some help by drafting Takkarist McKinley who has 5 sacks, which is more than Beasley who has 4.


9. Carolina (8-4) Previous Rank: 9
Last game: Lost to the New Orleans Saints 31-21
Next game: Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings
Cam Newton has completed 64 passes to rookie running back Christian McCaffrey which is the most he has completed to a back in the last 5 years.


8. Jacksonville (8-4) Previous Rank: 10
​Last game: Defeated the Indianapolis Colts 30-10
Next game: Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks
Leonard Fournette is 178 yards away from being the second rookie in franchise history to rush for 1,000 yards. The Jaguars have found a reliable left tackle in Cam Robinson who has started all 12 games in that position.


7. New Orleans (9-3) Previous Rank: 6
​Last game: Defeated the Carolina Panthers 31-21
​Next game: Thursday against the Atlanta Falcons
Alvin Kamara has more than 600 rushing and receiving yards and ranks only second in total yards from scrimmage (1,220). Kamara is also only the second rookie to score 10 touchdown in Saints history.


6. Seattle (8-4) Previous Rank: 8
Last game: Defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 24-10
Next game: Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks
Shaquill Griffin has help a Seahawks defense that lost two starting cornerbacks this season. The rookie has no interceptions but has 12 pass break-ups.


5. Pittsburgh (10-2) Previous Rank: 5
Last game: Defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20
Next game: Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens
T.J. Watt is only the third player currently in the NFL to have 5 sacks and 5 pass break-ups. Watt has proven he is just has capable as his brother to take down the quarterback and knock down passes.


4. Los Angeles (9-3) Previous Rank: 3
​Last game: Defeated the Arizona Cardinals 32-16
Next game: Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles
Cooper Kupp has been dominate recently for the Rams. He leads all rookies with 51 receptions for 665 yards.


3. Minnesota (10-2) Previous Rank: 4
​Last game: Defeated the Atlanta Falcons 14-9
​Next game: Sunday against the Carolina Panthers
Pat Elflein has been a solid center for the Vikings. He started all 12 games and leads all rookies in snaps.


2. Philadelphia (10-2) Previous Rank: 1
​Last game: Lost to the Seattle Seahawks 24-10
Next game: Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams
Derek Barnett has 5 sacks this season and the Eagles continue to get help from rookies that didn’t even draft. Corey Clement who went undrafted has six touchdowns and kicker Jake Elliott, who was drafted by the Bengals is 19-23 on field goals.


1. New England Patriots (10-2) Previous Rank: 2
​Last game: Defeated the Buffalo Bills 23-3
​Next game: Monday against the Miami Dolphins
Deatrich Wise and Adam Butler are the only two Patriot rookies with at least 100 snaps this season. Deatrich Wise has recorded 3 sacks, which is third most on the team.
