Cross-Court Cavs: Bounce Back Week

After struggling, the Cavs went head on against two elite teams in the Bucks and Rockets, and took care of business against the struggling Mavericks. A slower week with only three games and no back-to-backs allowed the Cavs to regroup after every contest and focus in on the next battle.

The first match-up of the week slated the team back home to welcome in the Milwaukee Bucks to a nice greeting of 32 points from Kevin Love. The big man was on fire from all over, shooting 9-14 from the field and snaring a whopping 16 rebounds. The Cavs were able to keep “the Greek Freak” in check, despite him dropping 40 points. The struggling Clevelanders pulled through to help out their confidence and head out to Houston with a 124-119 victory in the back of their heads.

The next one in Houston didn’t produce the same results, though. Jeff Green and LeBron James combined for 60 points, but it wasn’t enough to keep up with the balanced scoring attack from the Rockets. James Harden led the way with 35, and everyone else seemed to fall into place around him. The game came down to the wire after being back and forth for most, but the offensive rebounding from Clint Capela and PJ Tucker sealed the deal with a 117-113 victory for the hosts.

After taking a hard loss to swallow, the Cavs headed out to Dallas to finish off the week with a Saturday night match-up with the struggling Dallas Mavericks. Kevin Love was the story of this one, once again, as his late game magic helped to seal the deal for the Cavs. He dropped in a total of 29 points, on 3 three pointers, and snagging 15 rebounds. He was a force to be reckoned with, as the team rallied around him and came out with the 111-104 victory.

This was huge for the Cavs, as they are starting to figure out their identity and how to play with one another. These two wins came against quality teams with young talent, but the improvement now has to come against the more elite teams, as that is what they’ll be facing come postseason. The team looks to be headed in the right direction, and look to be on a good pace as another 3 game week approaches them.
