Tomahawks and Touchdowns: Week #9 Recap

Last week was tough for the Chiefs. They lost to the Cowboys in Dallas 28-17. It was their third loss this season. The Chiefs have a record of 6-3 through the first nine weeks of the season. They will have a bye week, which will help them recover after the loss.

Despite their loss last week the Chiefs are still in the lead in the AFC West. The Oakland Raiders were the only team in the division with a win last week. The victory moved their record to 4-5. The Raiders are currently second in the division. The Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Chargers both lost last week and are tied for last in the division with a record of 3-5. The Chiefs loss last week did not hurt their standing in the AFC West.

Tamba Hali returned to the Chiefs last weekend. He helped the pass rush against the Cowboys. He recorded one tackle in the game. Hali was on the PUP list for the first half of the season due to a knee injury. Tamba Hali will have a positive impact on the Chiefs defense during the second half of the season.

Alex Smith threw his first interception of the season last week. He had 298 passing attempts before the interception. The streak was the fifth-longest to start a season. Smith has been a big part of the Chiefs success. He has 2,444 passing yards and 18 passing touchdowns. Alex Smith has had a strong start to the 2017 season.

The Chiefs run defense has been a weak spot for them this season. They rank 30th in the NFL giving up an average of 131.1 yards per game. Last week they allowed 131 yards to the Cowboys. The Chiefs run defense has been a big factor in their losses this season.

Week #10 will be a bye week for the Chiefs. The bye week will give them a chance to regroup and recover. In week #11 they will face the New York Giants on the road. The bye week will come at a good time for the Chiefs. They should be able to get healthy at important positions that have been weakened this season. They will only have seven weeks remaining in the season after the bye week. The break this week should give them time to prepare for the final part of the season.
