Cincinnati Bengals at the Tennessee Titans

The Titans continue their tour of the AFC North with the Cincinnati Bengals coming to Nissan Stadium in Nashville for a 1:00 pm (Eastern) clash. The Bengals were defeated last week by the Jacksonville Jaguars while the division-leading Titans were adding to their three-game win streak and running their record to 5-3. The Co-division leading Jaguars face the Chargers in Jacksonville so it’s important that Tennessee defends its home turf this Sunday.

The Titans have done that extremally well the past eight games winning 7 of them (The only blemish to the Raiders way back in week one this year) They’ve done it on the ground averaging 4.3 yards per attempt and only allowing 3.6 yards per attempt. Demarco Murray leads the team in rushing with 391 yards but is nursing an injured knee. He is expected to be in uniform and play against Cincinnati but if he can’t go then the Titans will turn to the reliable Derrick Henry. Henry has 357 yards on the ground and has actually gotten into the end zone one more time than Murray.

Marcus Mariota is a really good quarterback at home. He threw for two touchdowns and had a QBR of exactly 100.0 despite throwing a pick. In the past 11 games in Nashville, he has thrown 18 touchdowns against only 6 interceptions. More importantly against the Ravens, he looked much more fluid and comfortable on the field than before the Titans bye week.

The Titans secondary has been very good over the past few games starting with Kevin Byard. Only four people have six interceptions in a three-game span and Byard has a chance to match or surpass that on Sunday. He had three picks against the Cleveland Browns before the Titans bye week and snatched two more passes in the Baltimore Ravens game last week. If the Tennessee safety can get two more then he will be greatest thief of footballs over any three games in NFL history. The Titans have 9 interceptions this year good enough to put them 9th in the league in that category. They will have a big test on their hands with AJ Green. Green is one of the most talented receivers in the game. He is 9th in the league in yards per game at 72.3.
