Cross-Court Cavs: Struggles Continue

And the Cavs struggles continue. After a rough visit from the New York Knicks last Sunday, the team turned around this week to welcome in the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday. The two full days of recovery and practice helped bring the team together, still looking to “hit their stride,” but the first game of the week showed a different squad.

Top off-season acquiree Victor Oladipo dropped in 23 points for the Pacers to go along with Darren Collison’s 25 and Thad Young’s 26. The trio helped to secure an early lead for the visitors and they never looked back. Bojan Bogdanovic scored m 17 off the bench to help out with star C Myles Turner out.

On the Cavs side, nothing seemed work, as both sides of the ball were struggles for the Cavs, despite LeBron 33. The onslaught by the Pacers picked up as the game carried on, leading to a late Indiana run, and a 124-107 victory for the visitors.

Game 2 of the week was a short trip out to the nation’s capitol in Washington D.C.  This was a highly contested battle, especially with it being nationally televised on ESPN. The Cavs came out hot, and took control early. LeBron put on a performance for the ages, dropping 57 points, snaring 11 rebounds, and coming 3 assists short of a triple double. The man was on a mission, and the rest of the team fed off of it, helping to secure a 130-122 win.

After a convincing and needed win, the team headed back to take on the rebuilding Atlanta Hawks at home. The Hawks have been struggling, and the Cavs aren’t necessarily rebuilding, so the game looked to be in the good guys’ favor. But the Hawks had other plans. They held with the former champs and brought it down to the wire. Two missed free throws gave the Cavs one last chance, but veteran F Channing Frye couldn’t connect on a game winning three, moving the Cavs to 1-2 on the week with a 117-115 loss.

This start to the season has been quite the struggle for the Cavs, as they are currently in 13th place in the East, with the Bucks and Rockets next up on the schedule.  The team really needs to pick it up, as all of Cleveland is struggling right now and the Cavs could be a great jump start to turn the sports world around in the Land.
