Ring The Upset Alarm

Welcome to Ivan (J.D.) Geter’s weekly “Ring the Alarm” upset picks series. Every week I sit down and look for potential upset picks at the NFL and College Football level. Each week I will put three NFL teams and two College Football teams on upset alert. I hope you enjoy this series, and please leave you comments below.

“Ring the Alarm” I am putting the Denver Broncos on upset alert going into Los Angeles. Lets face it the Broncos have a problem at the QB position. Teams are starting to figure out if they load the box to stop the run Trevor Siemian can’t beat you with the passing game. He is only averaging 228.9 yards per game with just eight touchdowns to 6 interceptions. I see the Chargers taking advantage of the lack of passing attack and putting up seven more points than the Broncos. I got the Chargers winning 24-17.

“Ring the Alarm” for the Seattle Seahawks going into New York. Yes I said it even though the Giants have looked horrible this season; the Seahawks offense is not that impressive. When your QB has the second most rushing yards on your team and is only 54 yards behind your rushing leader, you have a serious problem. The Seahawks have 546 yards rushing against giving up 636 yards to their opponents. The Seahawks seem to be all defense or bust and they are not the Legion of Boom from a few years ago. If this game were in Seattle I would pick them, but because of the offense I’m not convinced they can win a lot of games on the road. I pick the Giants winning 23-20.

“Ring the Alarm” for the New England Patriots, the Falcons better go into this game with some sort of payback in mind. After blowing that lead in the Super bowl, they better win this game for no other reason. Falcons better win 31-28.

College Football

“Ring the Alarm” for USF going to battle Navy which has a really good offense and only lost one game to Memphis by just 3 points. The Navy rushing attack is hard to contain already running for 2385 yards this season. I think Navy will control the time of passion and get the win over USF 41-34.

“Ring the Alarm” for Kentucky falling at Mississippi State. Mississippi State is a tough road venue; they got a big upset win there against LSU earlier this season. While Kentucky will look for Stephen Jackson to continue a good season, Mississippi State will be looking to run the ball with Aeris Williams and Nick Fitzgerald. The cowbells will be out and I have Mississippi State winning 34-28.
