Top Ten Thursday; College Football

In a wild week full of upsets and close calls we have 2 new teams in the Thursday Top Ten, and only one team who stayed in the same spot as last week. Who stayed? Who dropped out? And which two teams are making up our Marquee Game of the Week? All of this and more is answered below!

10. Oklahoma St.

Last Week: NR

Last Game: Won 59-16 over Baylor

Next Game: 10/21 at Texas

Mason Rudolph has lead his team back into the Top Ten after their early season loss to TCU at home. It is still a rough ride to a BIG-12 Championship, but they are still alive in the wild word of College Football.

9. Miami

Last Week: #10

Last Game: Won 25-24 over Georgia Tech

Next Game: 10/21 versus Syracuse

They may not have been glamorous wins, but the Hurricanes have found a way to grind them out this season. They are keeping their ACC hopes alive and look to creep up the board with an outside shot at the Playoffs.

8. Oklahoma

Last Week: NR

Last Game: Won 29-24 over Texas

Next Game: 10/21 at Kansas State

Baker Mayfield is leading the Sooners back into the talks for an outside chance at the Playoffs near the end of the season. A win in the Red River Rivalry gets them one step closer.

7. Ohio St.

Last Week: #9

Last Game: Won 56-14 over Nebraska

Next Game: 10/28 versus Penn State

The Buckeyes are another team looking to overcome an early season loss and make their way back into Playoff contention. They have a big test in two weeks are they will square off against Penn State.

6. Clemson

Last Week: #2

Last Game: Lost 27-24 at Syracuse

Next Game: 10/28  versus Georgia Tech

After a stunning road loss, the Tigers will take the off week to regroup before taking on a tough Georgia Tech team. They still have a chance in the ACC, but it is going to take some work and luck down the stretch.

5. Wisconsin

Last Week: #7

Last Game: Won 17-9 over Purdue

Next Game: 10/21 versus Maryland

The Badgers have played old school football this season, and it has worked for them. A tough defense and heavy dose of the running game has paved a way into the Top Five this week.

4. TCU

Last Week: #6

Last Game: Won 26-6 over Kansas State

Next Game: 10/21 versus Kansas

The Horned Frogs now control the BIG-12 and look to prove that a Non-Conference Championship Game team can make the playoffs. With Oklahoma as the only ranked team left they play, they control their own destiny.

3. Georgia

Last Week: #5

Last Game: Won 53-28 over Missouri

Next Game: 10/28 versus Florida

The Bulldogs look like the team that will challenge Alabama in the SEC this year, and maybe even for the National Title. They will take an off week to rest up before finishing out their SEC play starting with Florida on the 28th.

2. Penn State

Last Week: #3

Last Game: Won 31-7 over Northwestern on 10/8

Next Game: 10/21 versus Michigan

The Nittany Lions have waited their turn, and are now Second in the Nation behind the powerhouse Alabama. They begin a tough stretch of three games against Ohio State, Michigan State, and Michigan this weekend at home against the Wolverines.

1. Alabama

Last Week: #1

Last Game: Won 41-9 over Arkansas

Next Game: 10/21 versus Tennessee

The Crimson Tide are just crushing opponents this year and continued that his past weekend against Arkansas. It’s simple, they will be on top of the rankings until they lose.


Dropping Out: #5 Washington, #8 Washington State

On the Cusp: USC

Marquee Game of the Week: Michigan at Penn State, 10/21 at 6:30 P.M. on ABC
