Top Ten Thursday; College Football

The college football season is starting to pick up steam. We are now into full fledged conference play. As the matches get better, the games seem to mean more. This week is no different as we present to you our Cleatgeeks Thursday Top Ten.

10. Ohio State (5-1)

Last Opponent: Defeated Rutgers 56-0

Next Opponent: Hosting Maryland Sat. 10/7 @ 4:00PM ET

Last Week Ranking: NR

With a dominant win over Rutgers and the loss of another Top Ten team, the Buckeyes find their back back into the Top Ten for this weeks rankings. They face Maryland next who has been off to a surprising start this season.


9. Michigan (4-1)

Last Opponent: Defeated Purdue 28-10

Next Opponent: Hosting Michigan State Sat. 10/7 @ 7:30PM ET

Last Week Ranking: NR

The Wolverines are back in it. After a week off they now turn to their in state foe, Michigan State this coming weekend.



8. TCU (4-0)

Last Opponent: Defeated Oaklahoma State 44-31

Next Opponent: Hosting West Virginia Sat. 10/7 @ 3:30PM ET

Last Week Ranking: #8

TCU looks to keep flying high after their win two weeks ago over Oklahoma State. They face another BIG-12 foe this weekend in West Virginia.


7. Georgia (5-0)

Last Opponent: Defeated Tennessee 41-0

Next Opponent: Visiting Vanderbilt Sat. 10/7 @ 12:00PM ET

Last Week Ranking: #9

They blanked Tennessee at home, and look to be the only in conference team who could take down Alabama. The Bulldogs look to keep their Conference and National Title hopes alive on the road at Vanderbilt this weekend.


6. Wisconsin (4-0)

Last Opponent: Defeated Northwestern 33-24

Next Opponent: Visiting Nebraska Sat. 10/7 @ 8:00PM ET

Last Week Ranking: #7

It was tough in the first half against Northwestern, and down the stretch in the second half. The Badgers held off the Wildcats though in a closer game. They are on the road this weekend against a Nebraska team that has been up and down all season.


5. Washington (5-0)

Last Opponent: Defeated Oregon State 42-7

Next Opponent: Hosting California Sat. 10/7 @ 10:45 PM ET

Last Week Ranking: #5

The Huskies are now the team to beat in the PAC-12 and look to prove that again this weekend against California.



4. Penn State (5-0)

Last Opponent: Defeated Indiana 45-14

Next Opponent: Visiting Northwestern Sat. 10/7 @ 12:00PM ET

Last Week Ranking: #4

The Nittany Lions have not faced a team that has slowed down their star RB back, and Northwestern will try and be the first this coming weekend.


3. Oklahoma (4-0)

Last Opponent: Defeated Baylor 49-41

Next Opponent: Hosting Iowa State Sat. 10/7 @ 12:00PM ET

Last Week Ranking: #3

The Sooners just look to keep on winning and prove a BIG-12 team can be in the Playoffs without a Conference Title game. They will face Iowa St. this weekend.


2. Clemson (5-0)

Last Opponent: Defeated Virginia Tech 31-17

Next Opponent: Hosting Wake Forest Sat. 10/7 @ 12:00PM ET

Last Week Ranking: #2

How are you the first team to beat three Top 25 teams in September and still be only Second in the Nation? Alabama, that’s how. The Tigers will look to continue an impressive run going and try to overtake Alabama this weekend against Wake Forest.

Last Opponent: Defeated Ole Miss 66-3

Next Opponent: Visiting Texas A&M Sat. 10/7 @ 7:15PM ET

Last Week Ranking: #1

What can you do to slow down the Crimson Tide at this point? Texas A&M will try to figure that out this coming weekend in a showdown.



Dropping Out: #6 USC
