Top 10 Thursday; NFL Football

With the NFL season approaching week 4, here are my top 10 teams heading into this week. I will be starting with #10 and finishing with #1.

#10. Detroit Lions (2-1)
Week 3- lost to the Atlanta Falcons 30-26

Week 4 opponent- Minnesota Vikings on Sunday

Detroit proved they can face legitimate contenders in the playoffs. The defense has held there ground as they have been able to apply pressure to the quarterback which as resulted in 8 takeaways between the first three games.

#9. Denver Broncos (2-1)
Week 3-lost to the Buffalo Bills 26-16.

Week 4- Oakland Raiders on Sunday

Denver has been able to hold star running backs LeSean McCoy, Melvin Gordon, and Ezekiel Elliott to a combined 83 yards.

#8. Washington Redskins (2-1)
Week 3- defeated the Oakland Raiders Sunday night 27-10.

Week 4-Kansas City Chiefs on Monday night

With the loss of DeSean Jackson many thought they wouldn’t have a reliable playmaker on the field. Suddenly the emergence of Chris Thompson made a huge impact with 6 receptions for 150 yards against the Raiders. He previously rushed the ball 3 times against the Los Angeles Rams for a total of 77 yards.

#7. Tennessee Titans (2-1)
Week 3- defeated the Seattle Seahawks Sunday 33-27.

Week 4- Houston Texans Sunday afternoon

The offense was key as Marcus Mariota went 20-32 for 225 yards and 2 touchdowns. Demarco Murray carried the ball 14 times for 115 yards and a score.

#6. Oakland Raiders (2-1)
Week 3- lost to Washington Redskins 10-27.

Week 4- Denver Broncos Sunday afternoon

The offense is strong after getting back a healthy Derek Carr after getting injured late last season. they have plenty of weapons on offense behind Amari Cooper, Michael Crabtree, and running back Marshawn Lynch. The team also has reigning defensive player of the year Khalil Mack rushing the edge.

#5. Pittsburgh Steelers (2-1)
Week 3- faced the Chicago Bears and lost in overtime 23-17

Week 4- Baltimore Ravens Sunday

The Steelers have a lot going for them on both sides of the ball as they have Ben Roethlisberger, Antonio Brown, and LeVeon Bell. Defensively they have Ryan Shazier who lead the team will 11 solo tackles last week against Chicago and Mike Mitchell who had 8 solo tackles and a pass deflection.

#4. Green Bay Packers (2-1)
Week 3- defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 27-24 in overtime

Week 4- Chicago Bears Thursday Night.

Aaron Rodgers has been able to take control of his teams success due to a poor defensive unit. Rodgers has gone 89-134 for 967 yards and 6 touchdowns through the first 3 weeks.

#3. New England Patriots (2-1)
Week 3- defeated the Texans 36-33 in overtime

Week 4- Carolina Panthers Sunday afternoon

The Patriots went up against the Houston Texans Sunday and won 36-33 behind Tom Brady’s late touchdown to Brandin Cooks with :23 seconds left in the game. Tom Brady has new weapons as the Patriots got wide receiver Brandon Cooks, tight end Dwayne Allen, and running backs Rex Burkhead and Mike Gillislee. Tom Brady shows no signs of aging as he has lead the Patriots to two straight wins.

#2. Atlanta Falcons (3-0)
Week 3- defeated the Lions 30-26 on Sunday.

Week 4- Buffalo Bills looking to extend their undefeated streak

The Falcons offense is key as since nobody can seem to slow down either Devonta Freeman or Julio Jones. Teams can either stop the run or stop the pass but its been hard for teams to do both.

#1. Kansas City Chiefs (3-0)
Week 3- Kansas City defeated the Los Angeles Chargers Sunday 24-10.

Week 4- The Chiefs will face the Washington Redskins Monday Night

Kansas City took a hit as running back when Spencer Ware went down with an injury before the season started. Rookie Kareem Hunt stood up to the challenge as he is now the leading rusher with 47 carries for 401 yards and 4 touchdowns. Not only can Hunt run but he is effective in the passing game as well as he has 9 receptions for 137 yards and 2 touchdowns.
