Dawg Pound Scoop: Back & Forth Game Takes a Turn for the Worst

After two consecutive losses, the Cleveland Browns looked to turn it up a notch and snag a win against the struggling Colts. The team made the trip to Indianapolis in hopes of bringing their first win of the year back to Cleveland.

The Colts jumped on the board early with a QB Jacoby Brissett 5 yard TD run in the first quarter. With 7-0 still the score heading into the second, the Browns decided to change that number when Duke Johnson Jr. punched in a 19 yard TD run, weaving in and out around defenders and leaping for the pylon.

Brissett would come right back, though, when he ran in his second TD of the day, this one from 7 yards out.  And after a Browns punt, the Colts struck again on a T.Y. Hilton 61 yard pass from Jacoby that made it a 2 possession game.  If this wasn’t enough, RB Frank Gore got in on the action when he punched in a 4 yard run to make it 28-7.

But just before half, and just about all hope for the Browns was lost, QB DeShone Kizer hooked up with TE David Njoku on a 1 yard play action TD pass, that sent the game to half with a score of 28-14.

The Browns came out in the second half firing, only allowing a Colts field goal for the half, and leaving themselves room for a comeback.

The charge was on when Kizer found Kenny Britt on an 11 yard TD pass in the 4th quarter to make the score 31-21.
The final push was made when Kizer scored himself a TD on a 1 yard run that moved the game to 31-28.

After a Colt punt with under 2 minutes left, the Browns got the ball back with one more chance to pick up their first win. Malik Hooker had other plans, though.  The Colts rookie safety snagged a Kizer pass intended for Seth DeValve and sealed the deal for the home team.

This was yet another rough game for the Browns, in a season that is already shaping up to be a rough one.  The team needs to find it’s identity and get back on track as the strength of their schedule is right around the corner.
