Tomahawks and Touchdowns: Week #2 Recap

The Chiefs played their second regular season game on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles. It was their first home game of the season. The Chiefs won the game 27-20. They are 2-0 against the Eagles in the Andy Reid era. The win was another key victory against a tough team.


Image result for chris jones chiefsDefensive end Chris Jones had one of the best performances last week. He had three sacks and one interception. He was named the AFC defensive player of the week. The Chiefs drafted Jones in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft. Last season he started in a few games after Allen Bailey was injured. In 2016 he had 17 total tackles and three sacks. Chris Jones looked strong last week and could be a future star on the defensive line.


Kareem Hunt had another strong performance last week. He had 103 total yards and two rushing touchdowns. Hunt has been a big part of the offense and is a factor in the Chiefs early success. He leads the league in rushing yards and yards per attempt. Kareem Hunt has played very well in the first two weeks of his rookie season.

Center Mitch Morse injured his foot in the game Sunday. He suffered a sprain and is expected to return later this season. Morse has been a reliable player for the Chiefs since he was drafted in 2015. He has started in 33 of 34 games in his career. The Chiefs will miss Mitch Morse while he is out but the injury is not severe and he should be back in a few weeks.


Image result for chiefs vs chargersThe AFC West appears to be the strongest division in the NFL this season. The Broncos, Chiefs and Raiders are all tied with a 2-0 record. The Chargers have started the season slow with a record of 0-2. Both of the Chargers losses were by three or fewer points. The AFC West was expected to be one of the toughest divisions and it appears strong after the first two weeks of the season.


The Chiefs will face the Los Angeles Chargers this week on the road. It will be the Chiefs first division matchup this season. They currently have an 11-game win streak against AFC West opponents. The Chargers are a better team than their record shows and this game could be close. It will be an important game for the Chiefs because a victory would help them maintain their position in the division.
