The Royals wrapped up their 2016 season last week. It was a disappointing season for them but they have the talent to compete in the next few seasons. 2017 could be a big year for them and they have a good schedule to work with. Here is a breakdown of the Royals 2017 schedule.


royalsvstwinsKansas City will start their season on the road against the Minnesota Twins. Their first game will be April 3rd and it will be a 3 p.m. start. The second part of their opening road trip will be against the Houston Astros. The Royals will return home and their home opener will be April 10th against the Athletics. It will be an exciting start to the season for the Royals with match-ups against division rivals and American League opponents.


The Royals will face the St. Louis Cardinals and National League West in interleague play this season. The most anticipated match-up will be the World Series rematch against the San Francisco Giants. This season the Royals struggled in road games in the Pacific Time Zone. The Royals will need to have success in the west to get back to the playoffs in 2017.


The All-Star break will be 10th-13th of July. Before the All-Star break the Royals will have a six game west coast road trip against the Mariners and Dodgers. Those games will be big for the Royals because they are potential playoff teams and it will give them momentum heading into the break. They will return from the All-Star break with a 10 game home stand. During that stretch the Royals will face the Rangers, Tigers and White Sox. The home stand will feature some big match-ups for the Royals.



The Royals will wrap up their season with a six game home stand against the Tigers and Diamondbacks. It will be a good way to end the season and the home field advantage will be beneficial if they need some key wins at the end of the season. The Royals last game of the 2017 season will be October 1st.


The 2017 season looks favorable to the Royals. They will have some big match-ups throughout the season. Their interleague games against the National League West will be some of the most anticipated games of the entire season. Overall it should be a good season for the Kansas City Royals and they will look to return to the playoffs for the third time in four years.
