49ers; What’s wrong?

The San Francisco 49ers entered the 2016 season as heavy underdogs, as they had 100-1 odds of winning the Superbowl. They had a statement win week 1 vs a “contender” Rams team. So, where do the 49ers rank right now? What’s wrong? Why are they losing so much?

The 49ers stand last in the NFC West and are 1-4. They count with a young, talented defense that includes players like Navorro Bowman (Who’s done for the year), Arik Armstead, Tramaine Brock, Eric Reid. Are the 49ers underachieving? I believe so. They have a good secondary, an amazing front 7 and they count with a veteran voice in Navorro Bowman. The offense is a little bit more iffy, with a WR tandem of Torrey Smith and Jeremy Kerley, a Quarterback that apparently does not like to throw the ball deeper than 10 yards and, a very bad offensive line. Anyway, you have probably heard the saying ‘Defense wins Championships.”, with such a talented front seven in the defense and an average secondary, the 49ers should at least be 2-3.

There is only one guy to blame for the 49ers collapse in the last couple of years. Trent Baalke.

Trent Baalke has missed way too much drafting and signing players, coaches, trainers, etc. Think about it, the Niners have ZERO playmakers. Carlos Hyde is the closest to that, but no, he’s not Adrian Peterson nor Le’Veon Bell. Carlos is a hell of a player, but, with a ranked 26 Offensive Line and 32 Passing Offense, there is no way he succeeds in San Francisco. tb

I’ve spent the whole off-season trying to believe Blaine Gabbert could turn it around and be the guy he once was in Missouri, he obviously hasn’t. Nevertheless, it is not all his fault. His targets are Jeremy Kerley, Torrey Smith and Quinton Patton. Not the Wide Receiver corp one would love to help a Quarterback turn his career around. Since 2014, the 49ers have released/traded 16 draft picks out of 36. Imagine what would’ve happen if the Niners drafted Braxton Miller in the 3rd Round instead of a snap-less 2016 season for Will Redmond. Again, Baalke needs to leave asap if the 49ers want to contend again. He wants too much power ( which he definitely don’t deserve ). For example, the Jim Harbaugh case. It all hapened because Jim knew he deserved better, and what did he get? A termination letter. I would be surprised if Trent Baalke is not fired after this season.

For me, 2016 is over in San Francisco. They lost two crucial pieces of that Defense in Navorro Bowman and Ian Williams. So, in my opinion, the Niners should tank this whole year. Fire Trent Baalke day 1 of the off-season, draft a QB in the NFL Draft such as J.T. Barrett, Deshaun Watson, Brad Kaaya, or Greg Ward Jr., (whoever fits the best in Chip Kelly’s offense) in the first round. Second Round target a Midle Linebacker to help Navorro Bowman such as Raekwon McMillan or Reuben Foster. Third Round go after a sleeper Wide Receiver like Corey Davis, Isaiah Ford, Travin Dural or Malchi Dupree. Before the draft, try making a splash signing. Alshon Jeffery is definitely not happy in Chicago, go pay the guy, make secondaries worry about the passing game and open some gaps for Carlos Hyde to run. And, in the process, you helped yourself defensively with the Linebacker in the Second Round of the Draft. To seal the amazing off-season, sign an underrated Cornerback such as Dre Kirkpatrick, Dwayne Gratz, or Logan Ryan. You might not be a Super Bowl contender right away, but you will be for the next 10 years if you hit gold in the First Round QB.

San Francisco was well known for the 49ers and the amazing franchise they had. Now, it’s all about the Giants and Warriors in San Francisco. Being a lifelong die-hard Niners fan, it hurts, it hurts to know the fact that Jed York has failed to see the little to no interest from our General Manager. Changes need to happen right away in the 49ers franchise, or else they will pay the consequences, and Niner fans won’t like it.
