Tomahawks and Touchdowns: Week #4 Preview

sunday_night_footballThe Kansas City Chiefs picked up their second win of the season when they beat the New York Jets 24-3. It was a big win and could have playoff implications at the end of the season. Their opponent this week will be the Pittsburgh Steelers. The game is Sunday night and it will be the Chiefs first chance to play in front of a national audience.

The Chiefs big win against the Jets proved that they are one of the most talented teams in the league. They controlled the game and held the Jets to a field goal. It was a great performance by both the offense and defense. The Chiefs looked like one of the best teams in the NFL and they are still missing Justin Houston and Jamaal Charles. When the two veterans return the Chiefs will be even more dangerous.

derrickjohnson2The New York Jets suffered eight turnovers Sunday. Six of the turnovers were interceptions from Ryan Fitzpatrick. Derrick Johnson returned one of the interceptions for a touchdown, which put the game out of reach. The Chiefs secondary was an area of concern for them this season but their outstanding game Sunday eased any fears.

Jamaal Charles was inactive again last week. He has not played a snap for the Chiefs since he suffered a torn ACL against the Chicago Bears last season. The Chiefs are hopeful that he will return this week. If he plays this week he will likely see limited carries. Jamaal Charles is a key part of the Chiefs offense. He has the highest career yards per carry of any active running back.

The Chiefs week #4 opponent will be the Pittsburgh Steelers. It will be the Chiefs second road game this season. The two teams played last October and the Chiefs won 23-13. Both teams enter the game with a 2-1 record. The teams are similar and the key match-up will be the Chiefs defense against Ben Roethlisberger. It should be a close game and a win would be big for the Chiefs.

The Chiefs had a great game last week and will hope to build on the success with a win in Pittsburgh. Jamaal Charles could return this week. He will add veteran experience and skill to the Chiefs offense. The game this week will be big for the Chiefs because it is another opportunity to get a win against an AFC opponent and it will be their first chance to play in front of a national audience.
