A former MMA fighter has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting an unconscious woman in Scottsdale, Arizona, this past Saturday night, according to several reports.rodolforamirezmugshot

Rodolfo Ramirez, 28, was arrested on Wednesday on two counts of kidnapping, three counts of sexual assault and one count of sexual abuse, according to Fox 10 News.

But the story only begins there and will get much worse as you continue to read.

In documents obtained by ABC 15, the victim told police she had been drinking with a friend at a bar. At the end of the night, her friend left the victim alone at the bar while the friend went to get the car. She did this because the victim was to intoxicated to even walk. When the rodoiforamirezcarrywomanfriend returned, to assist the victim to the car, the victim’s friend could not find her.

The documents obtained by ABC 15 also said Ramirez picked up the unconscious woman, carried her into a parking garage and drove her to his home, where he allegedly sexually assaulted her. In surveillance footage obtained by ABC 15, Ramirez can be seen carrying a slumped-over woman over his shoulder through a parking garage.

Can it get worse? It can, unfortunately, and it does.

The next day, he allegedly dropped her off near her friend’s dorm in Tempe,(Arizona State University is located in Tempe) according to the documents. When he was questioned by police, Ramirez initially denied even knowing the victim, according to The Arizona Republic.

Later, he reportedly changed his story and said she wasn’t “pretty enough” and “not his type,” according to court documents. So, he carries a woman off from a bar who is too drunk to walk, and takes her home, but she was ugly, according to the ex-MMA fighter.

I am sure realizing the error of his ways, he eventually changed his story a second time and told police that he had consensual sex with the woman multiple times, but allegedly agreed that she was too intoxicated to have been able to consent.

During his first court appearance on Thursday, a judge ordered Ramirez to remain in custody without bond. It is not clear if he has retained an attorney. He is scheduled for another court appearance on Sept. 29, according to The Arizona Republic.

Sports fans want their fighters to be savages in the ring. But we would also like them to be law abiding citizens outside of the ring. Are we asking too much? If an athlete does not have that “on and off switch” are those of us who clamor for blood and brutality even partially to blame?

Personally, I don’t think so, but then again, I don’t play violent video games that some people swear make you a more violent person when constantly exposed to them. My switch works just fine, and I assume that everyone elses does as well. But should we?
