Tomahawks and Touchdowns: Week #2 Preview

The Chiefs had a great start to their 2016 season last week. They beat the San Diego Chargers in a thriller and it puts them in a great spot in the division. They will face the Houston Texans on the road this week. It will be a rematch of last season’s wild card game.chiefsvstexans

The Chiefs started their season with a come from behind win against division rival San Diego Chargers. The Chiefs were down at one point 21-3. They came back in the second half and won the game 33-27 in overtime. The victory gave them a valuable win over a division opponent and it could be very important at the end of the season.

Kansas City will face the Houston Texans this week. It will be a rematch of the wild card and it should be a good game. During the off-season the Texans signed Brock Osweiler in free agency. Last year he was a breakout star for the Broncos. He played in one game against the Chiefs and it was a below average performance. In the game Osweiler went 14/24 for 146 yards with one interception and one touchdown. The Chiefs won the game 29-13 and it was a game that helped them clinch a playoff berth. The wild card rematch will be a great game and the teams should match-up well.

The Chiefs missed Jamaal Charles week #1 and it is uncertain if he will be able to play week #2. He is still recovering from a torn ACL he suffered last season against the Chicago Bears. It seems unlikely that he will be ready for week #2 but could return in a few weeks. Spencer Ware started for the Chiefs at running back last week. He rushed for 70 yards and had one touchdown. Ware is a decent replacement but the

return of Charles will help the Chiefs offense be more dynamic.

Kansas City waived KeiVarae Russell Wednesday. Russell was drafted by the Chiefs in the third round of the 2016 draft. The Cincinnati Bengal picked him off waivers after his release. He was not progressing the way the Chiefs anticipated and the Chiefs decided to cut the rookie. Russell is the second draft pick to be released. The Chiefs fifth round pick Kevin Hogan was released during final roster cuts. The Chiefs 2016 draft has been disappointing so far with two draft picks no longer with the team.

The Chiefs will face a potential playoff team Sunday when they face the Houston Texans. The game will be a rematch of the wild card game last season. The Chiefs will also face Brock Osweiler for the second time in his career. The Chiefs had success against Osweiler the last time they faced him and they will need another good performance to beat the Texans on the road. The game this weekend will be important and it should be a good match-up for the Chiefs.
