ICYMI: The Cubs activated reliever Hector Rondon from the disabled list last Tuesday. They also called up outfielder Albert Almora Jr., infielder Munenori Kawasaki, catcher Tim Federowicz and right-handed reliever Spencer Patton from Triple-A Iowa. Right-hander R.J. Alvarez was designated for assignment. Almora batted .303 in 80 games at Iowa with four home runs, 18 doubles, three triples and 43 RBIs. He appeared in 34 games with the Cubs from June 7th to July 20th and hit .265. Kawasaki, who was with the Cubs briefly earlier this season and appeared in three games, hit .255 in 102 games at Iowa, stealing 20 bases. Federowicz, who appeared in 13 games for the Cubs from late April to early June, batted .293 in 65 games at Iowa, hitting eight home runs and 12 doubles and driving in 39 runs. Patton, appeared in 35 games at Iowa and compiled a 1.00 ERA, giving up three earned runs over 36 innings while striking out 59. In 12 games with the Cubs, he has given up nine earned runs over 17 1/3 innings.hectorrondon-cubs

The Week Ahead: On Monday the Cubs start a three-game series against the Cardinals in St. Louis. Kyle Hendricks to go Monday with Jason Hammel on Tuesday and Jon Lester to close out the series (subject to change). The Cubs will come back home after the Cardinals series to take on the Brewers for four games.
