Women’s Wrestling Wrap-Up

Welcome to the latest edition of the Women’s Wrestling Wrap-Up, which details everything in women’s wrestling in the past week, beginning with Monday’s Raw.

BaileyNewDayThis past Monday, Dana Brooke aligned with The Club against the epic team of Bayley and New Day, with the babyfaces emerging victorious. As for SmackDown Live, tag team action took place, with Alexa Bliss and Natalya defeating Becky Lynch and Naomi. However, Carmella would steal the show for the second straight week, as the evil Princess of Staten Island again attacked Nikki Bella, who was on commentary. Of course, all six SmackDown ladies will vie for the newly instilled SmackDown Women’s Championship next Sunday at Backlash, but I would think that the Carmella/Nikki singles match would happen on the last SD before the event.

LivMorganNXTLiv Morgan and Aliyah took center stage on NXT this past Wednesday, with the former winning. Viewers would see Aliyah’s heel side emerge on the program, and it looks like Liv has become the main focus for NXT’s women’s division at the moment. Thursday’s Impact Wrestling saw Maria Kanellis ruin Allie’s Knockouts Championship celebration, doing so by forcing her apprentice to surrender the title to Maria. So after months of scheming and politicking, Maria finally got what she wanted:  the Knockouts Championship.

A pair of TNA Knockouts represented Impact Wrestling well at SHINE 37 this past Friday. Raquel made her second straight appearance for Shine Wrestling, and picked up an upset victory over former Knockout Santana Garrett, who actually trained Raquel. It does look like the Brazilian Knockout will be portrayed as a budding star for Shine. Another current Knockout, Marti Bell, successfully defended the SHINE Tag Team Championship with Jayme Jameson against up and coming stars Dominique Fabiano and Priscilla Kelly. Lucha Underground was represented as well, as Ivelisse successfully defended the SHINE Championship against a heel-turning LuFisto. The event ended with LuFisto fully established as a villainess and forming an alliance with Amber Gallows, Andréa (aka former TNA Knockout Rosie Lottalove), and Kennadi Brink. The villainous quartet band together due to their frustration with Shine, with the belief that the promotion isn’t allowing them to, well, shine. The group was officially dubbed “C4.”LUseason3

A new week begins tomorrow, and speaking of Lucha Underground, the program returns this Wednesday with the beginning of Season Three! The women of the indy circuit will be in action again, as Women Superstars Uncensored’s Resurgence 2 event will take place on Saturday, and of course, Backlash will feature the Six Pack Challenge for the SmackDown Women’s Championship! Until next week!
