NXT Weekly: In the Wake of Brooklyn

The first NXT following the explosive NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn looked to build off the momentum of a great show. This article will be shorter than my usual piece simply because this NXT focused on two matches and recapping the outcome of Brooklyn. Even though this week’s show seemed like a filler episode, the two matches that did take place delivered good storyline and in-ring developments.

  1. Tye Dillinger def. Wesley Blake

This match served as the expected return of Tye Dillinger. The Brooklyn crowd was behind the perfect 10 the entire time, and his momentum built great with every move he landed. Meanwhile, Blake and Murphy continue to job in the single’s division, losing to every competitor who has came forward so far. I understand this role for the two, but I also hope they return to their winning ways as a team soon, and I hope Dillinger gets the push he deserves, perhaps even facing off with Bobby Roode next.

  1. Authors of Pain def. T.M.-61

This match was very entertaining. A.O.P. had their first competitive match in what seems to be their first real rivalry. Though, A.O.P. eventually came out on top with their dominating style, T.M.-61 impressed in this outing. The future showoffs between these two teams should be great, and a TakeOver worthy performance is very achievable with the talent possessed by these two squads. I want to see both teams improve throughout this rivalry, and hopefully we’ll see more of them and many other NXT stars in the weeks to come.
