Tomahawks and Touchdowns: Preseason Update

The Chiefs wrapped up training camp last week and they are starting to prepare for the regular season. They lost their second preseason game last Saturday to the Los Angeles Rams. The third preseason game will be Saturday against the Chicago Bears. It will likely be the last preseason game for the majority of the Chiefs starters.

The Rams beat the Chiefs 21-20 last Saturday. Despite the loss there were some promising performances. Alex Smith and Nick Foles threw for a combined 270 yards. The passing game has looked great so far this preseason. The defense has also been impressive with opponents averaging less than 300 yards per game. The Chiefs defense will be even better this season when Eric Berry, Tamba Hali and Justin Houston Jets Chiefs Footballreturn.

Tamba Hali was activated from the physically unable to preform list on Monday. He returned to limited practice on Tuesday. It is crucial that the Chiefs have Hali healthy this season. Last season he was named to his fifth Pro Bowl. During the off-season he had knee surgery. He played through knee problems last season and the surgery should help him be at full strength this season.

Jamaal Charles had his first full practice Tuesday. He was taken off of the physically unable to preform list last week but he was still limited in practice. His return to full practice gives the Chiefs hope that he will be ready for week 1. Charles tore his ACL last season and missed 11 games. Charles is a big part of the Chiefs offense and it is important that he is healthy for the season opener.

It is important that the Chiefs have a good performance against the Bears because it will be the last preseason game for many of the starters. The Chiefs and Bears played week 5 last season at Arrowhead. The Bears won 18-17 and the Chiefs lost Jamaal Charles for the season.

As the regular season approaches the Chiefs are starting to look more like a complete team. Jamaal Charles and Tamba Hali are both back to practice and should be ready for the start of the season. Their preseason game against the Bears will be the last time we see the starters in action before the start of the season. The Chiefs first team has played well so far this preseason and if they are healthy it could be a promising 2016 season.
