The Pinstripe Post

Welcome to the latest edition of The Pinstripe Post, which details the past week in action featuring the New York Yankees.

GarySanchezThis week featured a three game set at home against the Blue Jays, and it saw the Yankees on the losing end, dropping two of the three. The centerpiece of the series loss included the Yankees blowing a 6-0 lead in a rain delayed game on Tuesday, losing 12-6. This followed a 1-0 victory on Monday against knuckleballer R.A. Dickey. The Yankees fell to the Jays again on Wednesday, by a score of 7-4. After an off day on Thursday, the Yankees headed to Anaheim to face an Angels team who had lost 12 of their last 13. The team capitalized on the Angels woes, blasting HR after HR after HR in Friday and Saturday’s games. The Yankees won those games by scores of 7-0 and 5-1, with the one Angels run coming in the ninth inning of Saturday’s game. Unfortunately for the Yankees, the team failed to complete the sweep, falling 2-0 on Sunday.

Now at the tail end of August, the Yankees are 63-61 and stand five games out of a playoff spot. However, the team has five teams ahead standing over them:  Baltimore, Seattle, Detroit, Houston, and KC. A bright note for the Yankees is that the young guns are hitting them out of the park, mainly Gary Sanchez, who has six HRs already.

Regarding this upcoming week, the Yankees will remain on the road against the top bubble team, the Seattle Mariners, in a three game set. After an off day on Thursday, the Yankees will return home for three against the Orioles, so this is a big week for the Yankees. An opportunity to really gain ground and get real close with September looming. Until next week!
