The Royals are in the hunt for a Wild Card spot. They are tied with Houston at 3.5 games behind in the wild card race. The Red Sox, Orioles, Mariners, and Tigers are all ahead of the Royals in the standings with the Yankees only .5 behind the Royals. The Royals will have an opportunity to face the Red Sox and Tigers in September. The Royals best chance at making the playoffs will be as a wild card team.

The offense has been a major reason for the Royals recent success. The Royals averaged a little over five runs per game last week. On Saturday they had their best offensive performance of the week winning 10-0. In that game the Royals hit three home runs. If the offense stays hot they will have a good chance at making the playoffs.AlexGordonBatting

Alex Gordon has been one of the best players for the Royals during their hot streak. He has hit five home runs in the last six games and has a .392 batting average in August. Gordon has been one of the key players for the Royals this month and he will play a big part of the Royals success in the final month.

Next week will be big for the Royals. Their first series will be on the road against the Miami Marlins. The Marlins are second in the National League East and in the Wild Card hunt. It will be the Royals first trip to Miami since 2008. The weekend series will be in Boston against the Red Sox. The Royals faced the Red Sox earlier this season and won two out of three games. The series against the Red Sox will be important in the Wild Card race. If the Royals win the series it will help their playoff chances. It will be a big week for the Royals and this week could have a big impact on the American League Wild Card race.
