Top Ten Thursday

  1. Chicago Cubs

Last week: #1

Sorry Cubs haters, the Cubs are good. Jake Arrieta seems to be getting back on track and Kyle Hendricks is still dealing. Jorge Soler is back off the disabled list and is proving himself. The Cubs are hot to start the month of August.

  1. Washington Nationals

Last week: #3

The Nationals remain dominate in the National League East. It’s definitely hard to find a weakness in their roster.

  1. Texas Rangers

Last week: #4

Jonathan Lucroy and Carlos Beltran have both shined in the kick off to their Rangers careers. Derek Holland is on the rehab trail after being sidelined since June 21st.

  1. Toronto Blue Jays

Last week: #5

How about Devon Travis?! He’s been putting on a show lately and it’s blasting these Blue Jays into playoff hopes.

  1. Cleveland Indians

Last week: #2

The Indians lost All-Star Danny Salazar to elbow inflammation and Detroit is gaining ground on them in the American League Central.

  1. Baltimore Orioles

Last week: #8

The Orioles can always rely on the long ball (IE: Mark Trumbo and Manny Machado) but the rotation needs to step it up.

  1. Detroit Tigers

Last week: N/A

Getting J.D. Martinez back healthy has been a big addition to the lineup, but injuries continue to be an issue for Detroit.

  1. Boston Red Sox

Last week: #9

The Red Sox had a tough road trip going 5-6 and managed to go 0-3 in David Price starts.

  1. San Francisco Giants

Last week: #6

The Giants rotation hasn’t been looking so good and the team has been struggling since coming out of the All-Star break.

  1. Los Angeles Dodgers

Last week: #7

It hasn’t been a good year for Dodgers pitching, 12 of their pitchers are on the disabled list.

Left off the list this week:

Houston Astros (Last week: #10)

The offense was hot, but it seems like it has taken a turn for the worst lately.
