The Texas Rangers were major buyers in the trade market. While some made a lot of sense, like the Jonathan Lucroy and Jeremy Jeffress. Getting some help in the bullpen and a real catcher has been a real shot in the arm for the New Rangers. I am making a new hashtag #LuvLucroy, to say Lucroy has been impressive is a vast understatement. In his last 7 games his stats are  .280/.308/.680.  A Ranger uniform suites him just fine. Also I would like to take the time to defend Lucroy and his decision to come to Texas, it is alright for a player to look for an extension and to maintain his current position. Lucroy is a catcher and the difference has been really shown in this last week. Yu Darvish has had two outings with Lucroy and they seem to work very well together. Bobby Wilson was placed on waivers and  picked up by the Tampa Bay Rays and Bryan Holaday has been picked up off waivers by the Boston Red Sox.

Jeremy Jeffress and his speedy breaking ball is something to see. The much added depth in the bullpen really showed through during the Astros series where we took two out of three games, and won “the no one cares about award” the Silver Boot.

The Rangers last week did something that doesn’t make much sense to me, I am glad we have him but why did the Rangers go after Carlos Beltran? Yes, he is a good hitter but I feel this has been a knee jerk reaction to the Prince Fielder out for the season situation. We have the bats with Mitch Moreland and Ian Desmond, and Nomar Mazara to name a few. However that being said I am sure glad Carlos Beltran is playing for us. He has a little injury right now a bruise on his quad from sliding into 3rd during the Houston Astros series. He is available to pinch hit.

Trade deadlines worry me, the Rangers during the last two years have been harvesting from the farm teams, Being a 5 generation texas girl here I can tell you, before you give away the farm let’s make sure that cash cow is going to give some tasty milk. Yes, you can say Cole Hamels was worth the risk and I agree with the Jonathan Lucroy and Jeremy Jeffress trade, we had to give up some young talent and I believe it was for the better.  But the Carlos Beltran deal, I am still undecided about, we gave up more young pitchers and with the Rangers those pitchers could hurt not having them down on the farm so to say. I really feel like this is the year not that the Rangers go to the World series but that they HAVE to go to the World Series and Win it.
