Crawford vs Postol to Unify Junior Welterweight Title

CrawfordvsPostolPresserSaturday night on HBO pay-per-view there will be supremacy in the Junior Welterweight division as the title is on the line. Undefeated title holders Terence Crawford (28-0,20kos) and Victor Postol (28-0,12kos) will fight to unify the WBO and WBC Championships.

FreddieRoachJust because he will be considered by most as the underdog do not sleep on Victor Postol because he is trained by the great Freddie Roach, who is considered by many as the best in the world. Postol will be coming into the bout as the underdog, but that is not unfamiliar territory for him as he was the underdog when he fought Lucas Matthysse and made him quit in the 10th round.  Viktor Postol comes into the fight with the length advantage and his skills as being an extreme technical fighter.  He has a good jab and has shown in the past to have good lateral movement as well. The problem with Postal is his power. The question will be will he have enough power? Does he have the power to hurt Crawford? If that answer is yes, and it is debatable, does he then have enough power to actually defeat Crawford? The alternative is he outlasts Crawford, which is not the best of game plans when you are going toe to toe with another skilled boxer.

This will be both opponents toughest fight of both of their careers. Crawford is the better defensive fighter and according to copy box numbers statistically speaking he is the second best in the world, only allowing a 19% connect rate. Crawford is extremely skilled.  He is patient and has a great combination between speed and power. What makes Crawford different and will most likely be the difference in the fight is his ability to switch stances and still be effective. If Postol gets down in the early rounds, then it can be a long night for him. He does not have the ability of Crawford to make the mid-round adjustments. My prediction is that Crawford wins a close unanimous decision fight and he wins because of his speed and power advantage.  I expect Postol to use his length, which will help him, but Crawford will adjust and dominate.
