Cleat Geeks

Top Ten Thursday

It’s the first Top Ten of the second-half of the season. The Cubs regain the top spot and their National League foes are sitting second and third. Keep it locked to Cleat Geeks to see how much the list changes until the end of the season.

  1. Chicago Cubs

After a little slump, the Cubs look like the Cubs we saw in the beginning of the season. They expect to get Dexter Fowler back very soon and it looks like Joe Nathan will be joining the team soon, as well. Nathan could help a struggling bullpen.

  1. Washington Nationals

Stephen Strasburg is living up to the hype. He continues to be dominate.

  1. San Francisco Giants

The Giants came out of the All-Star break and got swept by the Padres. On Sunday, they were almost no-hit by Edwin Jackson.

  1. Cleveland Indians

Everyone seems to be talking about the Rangers, as far as the American League goes, but don’t sleep on the Indians.

  1. Boston Red Sox

David Ortiz leads the hot Red Sox offense. Homers on homers. Don’t retire, Big Papi!

  1. Texas Rangers

The Rangers will need to get back to their winning ways because the Astros are coming for that No. 1 spot in the American League West.

  1. Baltimore Orioles

It’s crazy that the Orioles have kept the No. 1 spot in the American League East despite their pitching woes.

  1. Toronto Blue Jays

Edwin Encarnacion is on fire to start the second half of the season.

  1. Houston Astros

Jose Altuve is looming large in the American League MVP picture. Plus, have you seen the video of him singing Backstreet Boys? Dude can do it all.

  1. Los Angeles Dodgers

Clayton Kershaw is being shut down by the Dodgers, for who knows how long, due to back pain. Yikes.
