Former Tough Enough Competitor Signs with TNA

Chelsea Green

On Monday, TNA announced that they have signed former Tough Enough contestant Chelsea Green, with the announcement coming just days after Chelsea competed at Shine Wrestling’s SHINE 35 event last Friday. Chelsea competed twice for TNA this year, the first time at a live One Night Only PPV in January. At the event, Chelsea competed in a #1 Contender’s Gauntlet Match, appearing as one of two non-regular Knockouts; the other being Deonna Purrazzo. Chelsea resurfaced on an edition of TNA’s Xplosion program a few months later, competing in a losing effort against Jade, though their match gained a lot of attention from women’s wrestling fans.

Trained by former WCW and WWE superstar Lance Storm, Chelsea has been making waves in the last two years. She spent most of her career competing in her native Canada under the name Jaida, but it was in 2014 that Chelsea would gain her first bit of notoriety. On an edition of WWE’s Monday Night Raw, Chelsea played a small role in the rivalry between Brie Bella and Stephanie McMahon; appearing as the villainous Megan Miller, the portrayed physical therapist for Brie’s husband, Daniel Bryan. In her appearance, Megan stated that she and Daniel had a brief affair, and she was later attacked by Brie. Chelsea’s appearance on Raw drew some comparisons to TNA’s infamous Claire Lynch angle; in fact, she bore a bit of a resemblance to Claire.ChelseaGreeninWWE

It was a year later that Chelsea participated in Tough Enough, but she originally failed to make the final cut, consisting of 13 competitors. However, when Dianna Dahlgren, one of the six female finalists, bowed out early in the season, Chelsea was brought back to replace her, lasting a few weeks until she was eliminated. Since TE, Chelsea has returned to the independent circuit, competing in promotions such as Queens of Combat and Shine Wrestling.

ChelseaGreen_TNAnewKnockoutChelsea is the sixth different Knockout signed by TNA this year, which averages to one a month. She joins a list that includes Maria Kanellis, Laura Dennis (Allie), Allysin Kay (Sienna), Rosemary, and fellow TE competitor Gabi Castrovinci (Raquel). With Chelsea’s TNA signing, five of the six female finalists (not counting Dianna) are with either WWE or TNA, with Mandy Rose, Daria, and Sara Lee all signed to WWE. Only Giorgia “GiGi” Piscina hasn’t been signed by either promotion. TNA’s next batch of tapings will take place on July 12, so it’s most likely that Chelsea will make her official Knockouts debut on that date. She has not been given a ring name as of yet, but she competed under her real name in her TNA appearances this year, and regarding her character, we should know if she’ll be a face or heel. Chances are she’ll be a face, because the babyface side is quite shorthanded in the Knockouts Division. It also looks like, from the official Impact Wrestling picture, that she is going blonde.
