The Royals had a better week winning six of their seven games. They swept the division leading Cleveland Indians and won their four game series against the Detroit Tigers. Division wins are always important and they could be valuable in the playoff race.

The Royals are currently in second in the American League Central. They are a half a game behind the Cleveland Indians. The Royals made progress in the American League Central standings when they swept the Indians. The Royals are 3.5 games ahead of the White Sox. The Royals are in a good position in the Division and if their hot streak continues they will have a chance to move into first.

Kendrys Morales has been one of the Royals best hitters in June. He has a batting average of .327 and has 11 RBI’s this month. His overall batting average is .226 this season which is an improvement from his .191 batting average just two weeks ago. He had a 5-RBI game on Saturday, which helped the Royals crush the Tigers 16-5. Morales improvement on offense has helped the Royals offense get back on track.

Salvador Perez showed off his power last week hitting three home runs. Perez has 12 home runs so far this season. He has also been a consistent hitter. He has a .305 average, which is the highest for a catcher in the American League. Not only has Perez been valuable on offense he has been nearly perfect on defense. He has a .998 fielding percentage and a Defensive WAR of 1.2.WhitMerrifield

The Royals designated Omar Infante for assignment Wednesday. The Royals are moving on from the veteran second baseman. Infante has battled injuries the last couple years and is being outperformed by younger players. Whit Merrifield will likely take over at second base. Merrifield is more consistent and has more potential. It was a hard decision for the Royals but it was the right one moving forward.

The Royals will play the Mets and Astros next week. They will visit the Mets in New York in a World Series rematch. They will face Noah Syndergaard and Bartolo Colon. Both pitchers have winning records this year. The Royals weekend series will be at home against the Houston Astros. This will be a rematch of the 2015 American League Division Series. The Royals will face Keuchel, Fiers and Fister. Keuchel has had a disappointing year with a 3-9 record. The Royals won their series against the Astros earlier this season.
