Huge Changes To SHINE 35

Shine35Last week it was announced that Jade would defend the TNA Knockouts Championship at Shine Wrestling’s SHINE 35 event against Santana Garrett, marking the first time ever that the prestigious title would be defended at a Shine event. Of course, this announcement came less than a week before Slammiversary, and the live TNA PPV would see Jade lose the title to Sienna in a Triple Threat Match that also included Gail Kim. Sienna (Allysin Kay) was originally booked to serve as the challenger to Madison Eagles’ SHIMMER Championship at Friday’s event.

So with that big development, a monkey wrench has been thrown into Shine’s card for Friday. But they have made a huge change to the event, and to say that it is epic would be an understatement! For the first time ever in Shine’s three year history, not one, not two, but THREE titles will be defended in a single main event! The SHINE Championship, the SHIMMER Championship, and the Knockouts Championship are all on the line, as Taylor Made, Madison Eagles, and Sienna will compete in a three way main event match, where whoever is pinned or made to submit loses her title! Of course, Sienna just won her title, Taylor Made has been SHINE Champion since December 2015, and Madison has the longest reign, having won the SHIMMER Championship back in October 2015. This match also puts Allysin Kay and Taylor Made against each other for the first time since Taylor and the rest of the modified VAL-kyrie stable turned their backs on Kay in October. The two women were longtime tag team partners since 2012, forming the duo known as Made In Sin.

santanaGarrettSo where does this leave Jade (Mia Yim) and Santana? The two women will compete in a four way “Money In The Bank” match (the name used due to WWE’s MITB PPV taking place this weekend), doing so against Kellie Skater and Nicole Matthews. Aussie sensation Kellie Skater was originally booked as Taylor Made’s SHINE Championship opponent, while Nicole Matthews (formerly one half of SHIMMER’s Canadian NINJAs) was originally set to face off against Saraya Knight, who had to cancel her appearance due to a family emergency. Clearly a ladder won’t be involved in this match, but I’m wondering if we’ll see a briefcase. The winner will receive a title match of their choosing.

SHINE 35 has the makings of an epic event!
