Women’s Wrestling Wrap Up

Welcome to the latest edition of the Women’s Wrestling Wrap-Up, which details everything in women’s wrestling in the past week, beginning with Monday’s Raw.

For the second time in less than a week, we saw Dana Brooke and Natalya going at it, with the former winning. Post-match, Dana and Charlotte attacked Natalya, only for Becky Lynch to make things even. Becky has also had her problems with not only Dana Brooke, but with Charlotte dating back to last November. I am anxious to see the Becky/Nattie alliance in action against Dana Brooke and Charlotte. I see this happening as soon as the next Raw.

GailKimMariaOver on Impact Wrestling, it is official: Gail Kim and Maria Kanellis will clash at Slammiversary next Sunday! This has been months in the making, as Maria has antagonized Gail at every chance since February, including costing Gail the Knockouts Championship twice. Maria has ducked and dodged Gail at every turn; hiding behind her position as leader of the Knockouts. The match was made by Ethan Carter III, who was put in charge of Impact this past week. He also put Maria’s lackeys, Allie and Sienna in a tag team match against Gail and Jade, with the babyface tandem winning.

The following evening saw Kobra Moon continue her pursuit of Daga; a pursuit that began two weeks prior when both warriors competed in a four-way match, with Kobra Moon allowing Daga to win. On NXT that same evening, the evil Nia Jax made an uproarious statement during the contract signing for NXT Takeover:  The End, doing so with a powerbomb to NXT Women’s Champion Asuka. On SmackDown the next night, Charlotte was victorious against Becky Lynch, but Becky and Nattie got the last laugh as they took the fight to Charlotte and Dana Brooke.

Marine5castOutside the ring, more details were announced regarding The Marine: Battleground. It was already announced that Maryse and Naomi will participate in the film, but this past week, it was revealed that Naomi will play a villainess in the upcoming film. Most likely, Naomi’s character will be part of the villainous biker gang in the film, played by the remaining members of the Social Outcasts. Details on Maryse’s character in the film have yet to be announced. Speaking of movies, the trailer to Scooby Doo:  Curse of the Speed Demon was released earlier, and it showed that Paige and Lana are among the many superstars participating in the animated film, which will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray on August 9. This will be Paige’s second film; her first was last year’s holiday movie, Santa’s Little Helper, where she portrayed Eleanor, a villainous elf. Lana has done more than her share of acting gigs, most notably playing in the Pitch Perfect films. She was recently featured in Countdown and she will be seen in the upcoming film, Interrogation.

A new week begins tomorrow on Raw, and will include Asuka and Nia Jax’s encounter at NXT Takeover:  The End. Slammiversary will end the week, with Gail and Maria clashing at last. Until next week!
