OTOGH: Oh Yu I missed You!

DarvishSequenceTo say Yu Darvish is back, is an understatement. I know the critics are going to say it is one outing, but what an outing it was 5 IP 3H 1ER and 7K and an ERA of 1.80. What Darvish’s return also brought was the return of the bats, during the series with the Pirates a lacking Mitch Moreland hit not one but two home runs in the series.

Another person who is hot after Darvish’s return, Prince Fielder who after a very very very long drought of 34 games, finally got his homer on May 29 according to Statcast it went 400 ft. There had been some great concerns about Fielder and the drought, while one home run is good, lets home its the start of something, if another drought comes again the Rangers might have to make a change.

Back to home runs, Fielder wasn’t the only one hitting long dingers outs. One can not talk about a home run at Globe Life Park in Arlington without talking about the absolute bomb hit by Normar Mazara, on May 25. Statcast said it went 491 feet, leaving an imprint of the ball on the hand of the man who tried to catch it. Mazara, is just a powerhouse, he seems like a seasoned veteran but guess what, he is only 21 yrs old.

Rougned Odor is serving his 7 game suspension, he got one day taken off in the appeal process, Jose Bautista,  had to serves his full one day suspension. In the meantime, Jurickson Profar, has been called up to replace Odor, and he is Desmond&Profartrying to make an impression during this time.

Ian Desmond has made an impression in the hitter’s box, in the last 7 games, Desmond is hitting .438. During Monday’s game against the Cleveland Indians, Desmond hit a shot past the greenery at Progressive Field. During that same game Derek Holland did wonderful, in front of his home crowd, Holland is from the the Ohio area and the Rangers need to bring Holland’s friends and family back to Arlington with them. Holland pitched very well, 6IP, 1ER and now has a 4.78 ERA. Holland looked very good, crisp out there, he had wonderful placement on his pitches. If he and the Rangers as a whole can keep this up, we now have a dynamic team. Are starters would include Cole Hamels, and now Yu Darvish, plus an improved Derek Holland. We have Desmond, and Marza hitting, along with an improved Prince and Sam Dyson in the the closer role. This is your Texas Rangers, with a stable full of horses, the Rangers are showing what they are capable.
