David Avanesyan retains interim belt defeating Shane Mosley

44 year old Shane Mosley looked past his prime as the younger David Avanesyan was able to retain his WBA Welterweight Title via unanimous decision. The final judges’ score card had it 114-113 and 117-110 by the final two judges.

Mosley did have spurts where he looked good at times but Avanesyan was too quick as he was able to put his combinations together and land them. Avanesyan best round was in the 8th round when he hit Mosley with a big left hook that snapped his head back that obviously stunned him.  Later in the fight Avanesyan was able to land body shots, which slowed Mosley down and ultimately led to Avanesyan’s victory.

Next up for Avanesyan will be even a bigger and tougher challenge. He will fight the winner of Thurman-Porter to see who is the unanimous WBA Welterweight Champion. Avanesyan will need to step his game up and be even better then he was tonight if he wants a chance to even stay competitive against either Thurman or Porter.
