Golden State: Would A Loss REALLY Do More Harm Than Good?

Sure the fans would be disappointed, but what would it do to the players as well as the organization if they did not win it all? If you ask me, there are  few things that could factor into a long and painful off-season.

1)Kerr Wins Coach of The Year

Even though Luke Walton weathered an impressive storm early by keeping the nucleus together and bringing the team to a 24-0 run to start the season. All the while, Kerr sat out with a spinal injury, and the credit still found its way to him. I am in no way shape or form saying he doesn’t deserve it, but there were other coaches that put together impressive seasons to make it into the post season, let alone improve their team from the year before. Quin Snyder is one, Terry Stotts is another after the prediction that the Blazers would not be the least bit relevant, Brad Stevens possibly. Kerr has been good at making adjustments that brought the team out of some tough situations (last years finals for instance). Forcing a game 7 after falling 3-1 is impressive, but will he look at it with the mindset of he really deserved it after failing to reach the Finals? Not the Semis, but the Finals?

2) Curry is First Unanimous MVP

It’s no surprise that the league felt marveled by the shots, crossovers and dimes dropped by the reigning MVP. That being said, does not winning it all have an effect on him as well. Yes. The reason being the award is given to a player a team cannot succeed without. The Rockets don’t have a real shot at winning without Harden, the Blazers without Lillard, the Cavs without LeBron and so on. If Curry fails to perform, many will try to throw his award into the fire of it all.

3) 73 Wins

Records were meant to be broken yes, but you know where I’m going with this. Breaking the league record of 72 regular season games, won’t mean a hill of beans if you don’t hoist the Larry O’ Brien Trophy. A well put together team that shatters 3 point records, and points per game and so on will look like a failure on part of the organization if they can’t beat the toughest competition.

Do you think game 7 is as serious as I put it out to be? What do you think about all of it? Comment below!
