Women’s Wrestling Wrap-Up

Welcome to the latest edition of the Women’s Wrestling Wrap-Up, which covers everything in women’s wrestling in the past week, beginning with Monday’s Raw and ending with last night’s Extreme Rules.

StephSlapsRicRaw featured Dana Brooke defeating Becky Lynch for the second time in less than a week (they faced each other on SmackDown last week), but the highlight came at the end, with the contract signing between Charlotte and Natalya. The signing also came with a caveat; if Ric Flair so much as shows his face during the match, Charlotte will forfeit the Women’s Championship to Natalya. The segment even saw Stephanie McMahon slap Ric Flair after he bashed her, and she was even cheered for it, in North Carolina, no less!

The next night’s Impact Wrestling marked the official end of Velvet Sky, as she was defeated by Sienna one-on-one and lost her job for it. In real life, Velvet departed from TNA after the last batch of tapings, so this past Tuesday’s episode wrote her off properly. The episode also featured the TNA debut of Allie (Cherry Bomb), who is portrayed as Maria Kanellis’ assistant. Regarding Lucha Underground, Sexy Star competed for the Gift of the Gods Championship, and Kobra Moon was in action in a four way contest. On the same night, Carmella defeated Peyton Royce on NXT, which was main evented by Nia Jax defeating Bayley. This past Thursday, Dana Brooke defeated Paige, while Becky Lynch was on commentary.

DanaBrookeasRicFlairLast night, Extreme Rules took place, and even more controversy occurred between Charlotte and Natalya. We all figured that Ric Flair made his presence felt when we saw his robe. Natalya certainly thought so, as she believed she won due to the stipulation. However, in a shocker, Dana Brooke was revealed to be donning the robe and the wig, and the distraction led to Charlotte winning with the Figure Eight. Not only that, but we now have a new villainous alliance between Charlotte and Dana Brooke, who feuded bitterly on NXT last year!

Also this past week, the latest episode of the WWE Network’s series, Table For 3, featured three former female WWE talents on the program. The episode–titled, “Millennium Divas”–featured Molly Holly, Michelle McCool, and Candice Michelle; all former WWE Women’s Champions. This was Molly’s second appearance on the show; she last appeared on the “Diva Legends” episode with Ivory and WWE Hall of Famer Alundra Blayze. The episode, among others, was taped during WrestleMania Weekend in Dallas last month. Among the many things that were discussed were the memorable Diva Dodgeball outing at SummerSlam in 2004, problems with injuries, their favorite moments, and Michelle stating that back when she was starting in WWE, she dreaded meeting her future husband, The Undertaker! The episode is available on demand on the Network.

A new week begins tonight with the fallout from Extreme Rules! And with the next Takeover event two weeks away, we should get an inkling as to who Asuka’s opponent will be at the event! Until then!
