Top Ten Thursday

  1. Chicago Cubs

Last week: #1

Gerrit Cole may not think the Cubs are the best team in baseball, but they are. They’re number one once again.

  1. Chicago White Sox

Last week: #2

Chicago dominates the list. The White Sox are number two once again. Just like the Cubs, they have plenty to brag about.

  1. Boston Red Sox

Last week: #5

The Red Sox lead the majors in batting average and that’s why I moved them up two spots. Their offense is on fire and I don’t see them slowing down any time soon.

  1. Washington Nationals

Last week: #4

Daniel Murphy, Aledmys Diaz, and Bryce Harper rank first through third in the NL in OPS. Although, Harper continues to get pitched around.

  1. Baltimore Orioles

Last week: #6

The Baltimore starting rotation was a concern heading into the season, but so far it’s been holding up. Even without an injured Yovani Gallardo.

  1. Seattle Mariners

Last week: #7

After a sweep of the Rays, Seattle went and got swept by the Angels. The Rangers are right on their heels in the AL West. The Mariners are on the road this week to face Baltimore and Cincinnati where they hope to redeem themselves.

  1. New York Mets

Last week: #3

The Mets dropped down on the list this week. Their .208 batting average with runners in scoring position is the worst in the MLB.

  1. Texas Rangers

Last week: #9

Well the brawl against the Blue Jays is still the talk of the MLB, but the home runs just keep on coming from the Rangers.

  1. San Francisco Giants

Last week: #10

Denard Span and Hunter Pence had big weeks for San Francisco. They’re currently first in the NL West.

  1. Philadelphia Phillies

Last week: N/A

Pitching is key in Philadelphia. Their bats have yet to get hot.

Left off the list this week:

Pittsburgh Pirates (Last week: #8)

The Pirates have been doing well since avoiding the sweep in Chicago last weekend. We’ll see if they can get back on the list next week.
