Women’s Wrestling Wrap-Up

Welcome to the Women’s Wrestling Wrap-Up, which details everything in the past week in women’s wrestling, beginning with Monday’s Raw.

DanaBrookeEmmaRaw featured Paige defeating reigning Women’s Champion Charlotte while Natalya was on commentary, but the bigger story was the main roster debut of NXT’s villainous blonde bombshell, Dana Brooke. Before Raw began, it was reported that Dana Brooke was backstage at the program, so it was safe to assume that she would be making her big call up on that evening. Dana appeared during a backstage segment with Emma and Becky Lynch and attacked the latter from behind, continuing her alliance with Emma from NXT. It is reported that the reason why Dana and Emma’s alliance is being featured on Raw is to fill the void left by the injured Naomi and Tamina. Dana Brooke (real name Ashley Sebera) has been in WWE since she was signed in 2013. She would make her televised NXT debut in April 2015, and quickly formed an alliance with the heel-turned Emma, as they feuded with Charlotte, Bayley, and later Asuka.

Ivelisse&SonofHavoccThe Knockouts action on Impact Wrestling featured a Knockouts Championship rematch between Jade and Gail Kim, a rematch that was interrupted by Sienna, who was enlisted by Maria Kanellis to keep an eye on things. The following evening featured Alexa Bliss defeating Rachel Ellering, while Bayley and Nia Jax engaged in a verbal confrontation backstage. Lucha Underground saw Ivelisse fail to regain the Trios Championship in an odd alliance with regular partner Son of Havoc and makeshift partner Johnny Mundo, who was in for Angélico. However, we did get to see Ivelisse and Taya mix it up. As for SmackDown, the evil Dana Brooke defeated Becky Lynch in a grudge match, mainly due to Emma’s interference.

On Saturday, Women Superstars Uncensored held their IPPV, Unshakable, which featured four signed TNA Knockouts in action. Mia Yim (Jade) defeated Annie Social, while her former Dollhouse partner Marti Belle came up short against Jenny Rose. The main event featured Cherry Bomb (Allie) successfully defend the WSU Championship against Allysin Kay (Sienna).

Lilian-GarciaFeatureThe million dollar question this week was, “Where’s Lilian?” Many jumped to the conclusions that Lilian Garcia was handed her release from WWE after missing a couple of Raws, but she stated that she’s caring for a sick relative. Lilian later revealed more details about her absence, stating that her father is battling bladder cancer and multiple Myeloma and has been very ill due to the effects of chemotherapy. You can read more about Lillian and why she was away here. Lilian said on social media that she’ll return to Raw tomorrow night. The release rumors came a month after Lilian’s latest announcing flub led to a confrontation from someone behind the scenes. Thank goodness that Lilian has not been released.

A new week starts tomorrow and ends at Extreme Rules next Sunday! Until then!
