Welcome to Dodger town #3: A week in review

First let me gush for a moment. Kershaw is dealing, as a Dodger fan how can you not be completely geeked out having him in Dodger blue? Kershaw threw 13 K’s and got the Dodgers got the shutout victory on the back of Kershaw. It’s nice to have one of the best pitchers in Baseball on our team. Every time Kershaw is on the mound we just need to score. He is dealing at a historic pace and may be looking at his best statistical season of his career. Just when we were all asking “could he get any better?”

Looking back on this week, in 5 games since Sunday (May 8th) the Dodgers are 3-2 splitting a series against the New York Mets and picking up the last win in the series against Toronto. The Dodgers still have a lot of questions in the pitching rotation but for the time being they are scrapping for every win. Some guys seem to be stepping up. Trayce, now the third best Hitter on the team at .273, wants to get some shine as well. While Klay gets a lot of the highlights because of the team he is on and the system he plays in (yes that was a shot at Klay) Trayce seems to be finding his own groove in Dodger blue. Trayce hit a solo home run in the bottom of the 9th with 2 outs to give the Dodgers the game on Wednesday.

Mean while Stripling had a great game on Sunday as well to close out the series in Toronto with a win. His ERA this season now sits at 3.82. Stripling has had flashes but he has been inconsistent. Even thought the man pitched a near no hitter he still hasn’t had the run support and as a result hasn’t gotten his first win yet. This coming week features a good chance to get above .500. Saint Louis may be a tough series but after that the freeway series with a struggling Angels team presents a great opportunity to gain some momentum. The Angels have been nothing short of disappointing with horrible pitching and even struggling at the plate. The Dodgers should be able to win most if not all of those games. The Dodgers have what I think is a very talented roster. Things will come together at some point this season.
