OTOGH: To Catch a Catcher

dereckNorrisIf you listen to the Ranger’s broadcast, you might hear ok I am making a call. Well TAG, here it is I am making a call. I think the Rangers are going after Derek Norris of San Diego Padres. The Rangers in a move that puzzles most, got back from the Detroit Tigers Catcher Bobby Wilson, They have sent back down to the minors to Triple-A Round Rock, Bret Nicholas and who has a great bat, but lacking the catching skill as of now to stay up. Bryan Holaday has been a great catcher but has a had a cold bat. In another move they have traded catcher Chris Gimenez, to the Indians for cash.

ajprellerHere is how I see the trade going down, cash and Holaday for Norris. What does Norris bring to the Rangers? Norris numbers are:.234/.287/.377. Now I know its a long shot but things just look like something could happen, The Rangers have a good relationship with A.J. Preller the GM of the Padres, so things could be possible.

The month of May so far as not been good to the Rangers, who before may had a four game winning streak, but on Sunday May 1, Hamels could not get the Win going up against Garrett Richards and the determined Angels. Hamels went 5 innings and Richards went 4 both of their shortest outings. The Ranger bullpen got lit up by the Angel offense, to the tune of 9 to 6 with the Rangers trying to make a comeback ending with the mighty Ian Desmond striking out.

The Rangers are in Toronto for a four game series, things were exciting on the first game as Griffen started and pitched 6 innings with only 1 earned run and it was a close game with R.A. Dickey for the Blue Jays. The game was close with both Rangers and Jays scoring in the 3rd but on the 8th the “Marzelous Normar Mazara” got the go ahead run in the 8th. Rangers winning 2 to 1 over the Blue Jays.MLB: AUG 21 Rangers at Tigers

The Ranger’s bats have gone cold and Elvis Andrus is suffering from back problems due to the turf at the Rodgers Centre. In the 2nd game Rougned Odor got a homer in the first but unfortunately in the bottom of the 9th Justin Smoak of the Blue Jays got the tying run and the Rangers lost in the bottom of the 10th when again Justin Smoak got another homer that also scored Edwin Encarnacion Blue Jays over the Rangers 3 to 1.DereckHolland

The bats woke up and with a bunch of singles the Rangers scored 3 in the first two innings but Colby Lewis could not keep back the Blue Jays and Edwin Encarnacion homers with men on to tie the game. Game 3 was lost on some small ball and a fly ball to the outfield in the bottom of the 9th by Blue Jays Russell Martin and the Blue Jays win over the Rangers 4 to 3.

Today my favorite pitcher Derek Holland E.R.A 2.48 is going on the mound for the Rangers against J.A. Happ,E.R.A 2.76 should make it another good game.

Injury reports:

Joey Gallo, is out for 3 to 4 weeks with a grade one groin pull.
Josh Hamilton has had a set back in his recovery and is going to be out longer. He is currently working on non baseball activities.
Yu Darvish is making progress and is still on the timetable of coming back in May or early June.
