Conor McGregor; Another Greedy Athlete

Conor McGregor made an announcement via his Twitter account at 11:29 am on Tuesday that said, “I have decided to retire young. Thanks for all the cheese. Catch ya’s later.” I don’t believe this for 1 minute. This is just another way for a greedy sports superstar to force the company who made him, to pay him. And as long as these companies keep paying them, it will never stop.

Dana-White-Conor-McGregor-UFC-178-Post-Press-01-750x370UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor will not fight Nate Diaz at UFC 200 on July 9 in Las Vegas. UFC president Dana White announced Tuesday night on SportsCenter that the promotion has pulled McGregor from the main event at UFC 200, due to the Irishman’s unwillingness to fly to Las Vegas and participate in mandatory promotional activities. Whether he will fight again period remains a question.

White, meanwhile, said he had been in communication with McGregor’s management throughout Tuesday. He said he could not speak on McGregor’s future, other than his status at UFC 200.

“We pulled Conor McGregor from UFC 200 and we’re working on other fights right now,” White said. “Conor did not want to come to Las Vegas and film the commercial and be a part of the marketing. He’s in Iceland training.

White went on to say the UFC still has a “good relationship” with McGregor (19-3) and that he “respects Conor as a fighter” but added that promotional obligations are mandatory.

Now Nate Diaz has taken to Twitter as well. He said this afternoon, “I guess my work here is done I’m retiring too.”

dana_white_wallpaper_oliengnetThis is why I am not a big MMA fan. I refuse to pay $50.00 to watch a main event fight that lasts only seconds, and I am tired of Millionaires wanting to be Billionaires. This is a disagreement between McGregor and UFC President Dana White and it involves the almighty dollar. White knows what UFC 200 will bring in, he made an offer to McGregor, and McGregor wants more.

Now it also looks like Nate Diaz wants a bigger cut of the pie as well. But he won in their previous fight with McGregor so if anyone should get a bigger slice it should be the winner of the first meeting.

Everyone wants to be Billionaires, but at what cost to the common folks?
