3 Impacts From Impact

Revenge was the theme for Impact Wrestling last night. What stood out about the program? Here are my 3 Impacts From Impact!

  1. There is no Divas Championship in WWE anymore, nor is there a Diva label, but TNA still has the Knockouts Championship, and it was won by Jade last night! After Gail Kim and Maria Kanellis’ shenanigans in making #1 Contender’s Matches in the past two weeks, Dixie Carter decided to put the two winners, Jade and Madision Rayne, in a title match against Gail, which the champion had no problem with. Jade’s title win came with controversy, as the evil Maria entered and struck Gail with the title belt, allowing Jade to capitalize and pin Gail to win the Knockouts Championship for the very first time. Jade (aka Mia Yim) has won titles all over, most recently the SHINE Championship, but this was her biggest win of her career; winning a title on a worldwide stage like TNA. As for the Gail/Maria saga, I find it odd that this feud will not include the title, because I thought for sure that Maria would be the next champion. Hopefully we’ll see Gail and Maria one on one soon enough.
  1. The Pope returned to action for the first time in four years, doing so in a Street Fight against Lashley. This match was the result of what occurred a few weeks ago, when Lashley attacked announcer Josh Mathews during their interview segment. Pope, who worked commentary with Josh, came to his partner’s defense, only to be speared by Lashley. The tit for tat continued on, and it included Pope eliminating Lashley in a #1 Contender’s Battle Royal. Pope asked for the match, and he certainly delivered in a fantastic effort. Unfortunately, Pope was unsuccessful, but time will tell if he’ll be back full time in the ring, or if he’ll go back to commentary.
  1. “Why would I want to be part of a dynasty, when I’m part of a Nation? The WOLVES Nation!” Those were the words uttered by Eddie Edwards in response to Gregory Shane Helms’ offer to form a tag team to win the World Tag Team Championship. Honestly, I still say this was an attempted diversion from Helms, trying to shield him from going after the X Division Championship, which, I hope Eddie does. I would love to see Eddie go after and eventually win singles gold, especially the X Division Championship, which can become a shot at the World Title at Destination X.

Those are my 3 Impacts From Impact! Next week, the Hardys will go at it, EC3 will face Mike Bennett, and Beer Money will defend the tag titles! Until then!
