After leading Houston to the playoffs for the first time in 10 years, The Houston Astros and manager A.J. Hinch have reached an agreement on a new contract. The 41-year-old Hinch replaced Bo Porter as manager after a disappointing 2014 season to say the least. In Hinch’s first season as manager with Houston, he lead the Astros to an 86-76 regular season record and an American League wild-card game where they would go on to beat the New York Yankees. The world noticed what a great job Hinch did with a young Houston roster, giving him the runner-up finish of American League Manager of the Year and ultimately leading to him being rewarded with a contract extension.

Here’s what Hinch had to say about his new contract.

“Jim and Jeff have both been great to me, and I’m really proud to be the manager of this group, and they treated me very well,” Hinch said. “Club policy is we’re not going to talk about the details and things like that. To say I’m thrilled to be the manager here and have them address me with the respect they have is an understatement. I love it here and how I’ve been treated.”

I believe it’s safe to say that the rebuilding process is officially over in Houston and fans are expecting nothing less than pure excellence for the up and coming 2016 season. The Astros have such a good core of young talent for years to come. With names such as Jose Altuve, Carlos Correa, George Springer, Dallas Keuchel and now adding Manager AJ Hinch to the list.

Astros owner Jim Crane had this to say about the young manager.

“A.J.’s a bright guy,” Said Crane. “He delivers a great message in the locker room. He’s got a lot of experience. I think you saw that come through with the way he pulled the guys together. I think there was an expectation of A.J. that he and Jeff get along extremely well. That makes things very fluid for the whole time, so you know the chemistry’s there with the front office. He handles the players extremely well, and they respect him, and that’s what you want.”
