50 Shades of Blue

Well I don’t know about you, but this week has left me hugely frustrated.

Lets start with last weeks win at Norwich.

che nor

Chelsea: Courtois, Azpilicueta , Cahill, Ivanovic, Kenedy, Fabregas, Matic, Hazard, Oscar, Traore, Diego Costa.

Subs used: Baba Rahman, Mikel, Willian.

I was shocked that both Kenedy and Traore got starts, but very happy by the fact the youth were being played.

Kenedy started very brightly netting after just 40 seconds, even from his left back role.Norwich-City-v-Chelsea

Traore played well and could have had a goal but his touch let him down, however he did claim an assist for Diego Costa in a 2-1 victory which for the evening pushed us into the top half of the table and what a welcome sight that was.

We move on swiftly to the weekends game against Stoke, and if honest, I think many Chelsea fans were a bit worried by this fixture as Stoke have been in fantastic form.

A win for Chelsea would have really given us a push up the table and given us an outside chance of getting the coveted 4th spot.

Also at stake was a record for Hiddink to become the 1st manager to go this many games unbeaten at a new club.

Diego Costa was missing with a slight injury and wasn’t to be risked when have such an important game against PSG in the week. So the Line up was:

Chelsea: Courtois; Azpilicueta, Cahill, Ivanovic, Baba; Mikel, Matic; Willian, Oscar, Hazard; Traore.

Subs used: Loftus-Cheek, Fabregas, Remy.

The game ended 1-1 with Chelsea extending their unbeaten record, and Bertrand Traore netting a fantastic goal, sending a bullet of a strike past Jack Butland.

The disappointing thing from the game was the lack of effort from all 11 players.GettyImages-496142068_0

Hazard has teased us with a return to form, but Saturday he was dreadful. His failure to shoot was very frustrating and on more than one occasion he was open to let fly but refused to pull the trigger.

The next culprit was Oscar, now Oscar as we know has 1 good game in every 20 so I am not expecting anything decent as he scored a Hat-Trick 4 weeks ago. However his performance on Saturday can only be described as a 7 year old playing amongst adults.

Poor touch, no effort, no strength, no tackling, no penetration. In fact the only reason you knew Oscar was playing was because it said so on the team sheet!!

Unfortunately in this lack of effort list I must put my beloved Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

Now I understand a lack of form when not playing games, because it can take time to get into the swing of things. What can’t be excused is lack of effort and especially when you are trying to prove that you should be playing. At one point I saw Ruben within 5 yards of an opponent with the ball, and instead of closing him down, Ruben just let him go. These moments will stick in a managers mind when he is picking the best team to go and do the job. If Ruben wants a fruitful career at Chelsea then he will have to bust a gut in every game.

In other news:

Pato finally made the bench, but he didn’t get any minutes making this the most pointless loan since Northern Rock went bust.

Chelsea have apparently held a meeting with Pochettino’s representatives about taking over at Chelsea. He has been a revelation with the Spurs and the board must feel that he could bring a title challenge from the blues next season.

Rumors are running round that Chelsea is looking to bid around $60M for Lukaku! I cant see why he would return to a club that didn’t let his talent flourish, or a club he thought he was bigger than. If he did return and succeeded it would make you think why do we sell our players just to buy them for double back when could have just nurtured them ourselves.

Eva Carneiro as I write this is having her tribunal, I’m still angry at the treatment of Eva and I hope she gets the results she is looking for. The former club doctor who was treated so badly by Jose Mourinho is looking for compensation or her job back.

Pit of the week: Not grabbing the 3 points against stoke, which would have left us within touching distance of United and the top 6!

Peak of the week: Bertrand Traore’s performances in the 1st team, and showing that youngsters can play well when given opportunities from the start of the game.

Next Fixture: Huuuuuuuuuuge game! Champions league quarter final vs PSG.

Until Next week……….KTBFFH
