NFL Report Card: Baltimore Ravens

Our NFL report card for the 2015-2016 season will be assigning a letter grade to each of the 32 teams and offering an explanation why that grade was chosen. After the evaluation, we will point out one specific area the team will need to address this off-season. Want some extra credit? Comment down below what grade YOU would give the team, and tell me on Twitter @FantasyFlurry your thoughts on the team’s report card for that day!

I think the Baltimore Ravens fans would describe this season with one word: unfair. Their record tied for the second-worst in franchise history at 5-11, but nine of the losses were one-score games. They often were one or two plays from winning the game, but many of their big playmakers suffered injuries throughout the season. Their first round rookie receiver, Breshad Perriman, was never able to get on the field because of a knee injury. Steve Smith Sr. was sat down for the rest of the season in week eight after tearing his Achilles tendon. The offense then lost quarterback Joe Flacco (torn ACL) and running back Justin Forsett (broken arm) just two games later.

The defense was never really able to get over the loss of Terrell Suggs after he tore his Achilles in the season opener. They were unable to generate a consistent pass rush, and this caused the secondary to struggle. Their stats were average, but they failed to make the big plays when they needed them.

The Ravens never really stood a chance this season with all the injuries, but they still found ways to keep games competitive. Unfortunately, we can’t improve their grade just because they had less to work with. We have to grade them on their performance.

Final Grade: D

Biggest Off-Season Need?

Their biggest off-season challenge is not bringing a specific person in, it’s getting everyone healthy. If this team was competitive with Matt Schaub, Ryan Mallett, Buck Allen, and Kamar Aiken, imagine what they could have done with the players who were injured
