Women’s Wrestling Wrap-Up

Welcome to the latest edition of the Women’s Wrestling Wrap-Up, which takes a look back at everything in women’s wrestling in the past week, beginning with Monday’s Raw.

Coming off the Royal Rumble, Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch faced each other one-on-one, but the match was crashed by Divas Champion Charlotte, who took out both Divas, continuing from where they left off on the previous night. Later on, another Total Divas-based matchup, as Paige competed for the first time this year, teaming with Natalya in defeating Brie Bella and Alicia Fox. All-in-all, a somewhat eventful night for the Divas on Raw.SashaBeckyLynch

It wasn’t that much eventful for the KOs on Impact the next night. The episode kicked off with Reby Sky with the Hardys and Tyrus, as well as a grudge match between Awesome Kong and Velvet Sky, which the former won (surprise, surprise). The only thing that stood out was the debut of Rosemary, aka indie sensation Courtney Rush. Rosemary is the demonic-looking valet for Crazzy Steve and Abyss, with the trio known as The Decay, and they made quite an impression on The Wolves, as they actually stole their tag team titles.

IvelisseNXT’s action saw Nia Jax defeat Liv Morgan, with the evil Eva Marie in Nia’s corner to continue their alliance. However, this past Wednesday was highlighted by the return of Lucha Underground. Season Two of Lucha Underground kicked off this past Wednesday, with the devilish Catrina assuming control and Ivelisse in the spotlight. Ivelisse, Angelico, and Son of Havoc, the unlikely trio who won the Trios Tag Team Championship last season, were all forced to face each other for a shot a Mil Muertes and the Lucha Underground Championship. Ivelisse won her match and would steal the show again in the main event for the title, but came up short. I can’t wait to see what happens in Season 2 of Lucha Underground! They really need to build a proper women’s division along with a title of their own; that would make LU even better, and it’s good enough as it is!

Taylor-Made-22-575x447SmackDown saw Natalya in action against Charlotte, but the match’s sole purpose was to continue the angle between Charlotte and Becky, and now Sasha. Charlotte attacked Nattie after defeating her, which drew Becky Lynch out. The women’s wrestling action didn’t end there, as Shine Wrestling held their latest event, SHINE 32 this past Friday. Current Knockouts Mia Yim and Marti Belle did not participate at the event, as they were in the UK participating in the TNA tapings. Santana Garrett, aka former TNA Knockout Brittany, main evented the IPPV, as she failed to recapture the SHINE Championship from Taylor Made.

That’s the week that was! A new week begins tomorrow with some possible build-up to Fastlane, as well as more Knockouts action! Until next week!
